Sobre mim

I am Betsy. Real name: Bethany Marie. I was born in the same city I currently live in (Niles, MI), that would sound even more exciting if you knew the population (~12,000) and I'm moving to the more suburban area. Like, down the street from the elementary school I went to. & pretty damn close to my high school.

Maybe eventually Portuguese. It would certainly be useful. But let's wait until I'm fluent in Spanish so the "FML" can wait (and be restricted to one language).

I WILL live in Italy one day. Florence, maybe? My dad lived there (& Naples) when he was growing up. But he's a douche. He spent more time in Texas than in Italy.
The metal kid in me wants to visit Scandinavia. Norway and a few others.

When I was twelve I found this rock band called HIM, and immediately fell in love. In that same motion, I was outcasted from the metal kids. All three of them I actually knew. I still fucking like them, so blow.

Philology interests me. I can't look at a word without wondering where it came from. This is a tiny fraction of the reason why I want to learn so many languages. That, and travel.

While I love horror, I really like a lot of non-horror movies.

I love Neil Gaiman. The Sandman comics/graphic novels, American Gods, Coraline (haven't seen the movie yet), Stardust, Mirrormask, everything. Man's a genius.

On a slightly related note, I fucking love Tori Amos. To the metal kids reading this: listen to her cover of Slayer's Raining Blood. Amazing.

On a very unrelated note, I love Beethoven. Just not Fidelio. My love of opera and my love of Beethoven found they didn't love each other. Fidelio is awful. BUT, all of Beethoven's other compositions are fantastic. Especially Piano Sonata No. 14. -swoons-

I play flute (lame), trumpet (not quite as lame), and euphonium (lame). I own a guitar. & that's where that story ends :D

I hate Valentine's day. It always overshadows my birthday (13 February). Plus: 14 is an ugly number. Not only is it one more than 13 (my favourite number), but it's 2 times 7. 7 is beautiful. I hate the number 2. 14 is the corruption by 2 of the number 7 .
