Introductory Albums

So, I have a really good friend who doesn't listen to music in the sense of most people on here. He has a few albums by The Beatles and random MP3s on his computer, but he's not really into music as much as some people (like me).

I've mentioned wanting to expose him to some really good music, and he encouraged me to select some albums for him to listen to. I've finally gotten around to doing just that.

I dug through my library and chose 10 albums, five of which are pre-1990, with the other five coming from the post-1990 era.

The List:
The Doors by The Doors
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars by David Bowie
Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
The Joshua Tree by U2
OK Computer by Radiohead
Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven by Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Funeral by The Arcade Fire
Mezzanine by Massive Attack
Odelay by Beck

I didn't want to overload him with more than about 10 albums, and I also went with pretty conservative choices. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars is a pretty accessible album, but my favorite David Bowie album is Station to Station. I choose the "stereotypical" albums in some cases because they are so accessible. The only really "out-there" choice was Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven, but I suppose I'm entitled one crazy choice.

I'm interested to see what he asks for more of. I'll follow up on this.

I reckon after The Joshua Tree you should immeadiatly let him listen to Achtung Baby then Zooropa Then Passengers Original Soundtracks 1 and Pop. :)

Oh, if he asks for more U2, I will TOTALLY give him Achtung Baby. I don't have Pop, unfortunately. I do rather like Last Night on Earth, though.
