After more than a year of delay, In A Perfect World..., the singing debut of multi-platinum songwriter Keri Hilson, has finally seen the light of day. Even though it's a bit disappointing that good early songs like "High Heels" and "Come Clean" didn't make the final cut, the whole album is filled with Keri's passionate vocals and futuristic electro-R&B sounds provided by Timbaland, Danja and Polow Da Don and thus very solid. Especially, Polow-produced electric slow jam "Make Love" is the bomb.
Case, the singer best known for R&B hits such as "Touch Me, Tease Me," "Faded Pictures" and "Missing You," just released his fourth album and first in eight years, The Rose Experience. This is Case's first independent release, but major producers like Tim & Bob, Mario Winans and Jazz Nixon contributed to this album and there's hardly any downgrade in quality. Chris Liggio, who has worked with Next and Felicia Adams, produced 8 out of 14 tracks.
Extraordinarily talented soul songstress Leela James just released her sophomore album, Let's Do It Again, which is the follow-up to her critically-acclaimed 2005 debut, A Change Is Gonna Come. The new album, however, is a collection of cover songs and I honestly wish I would have had an album of original material from Leela, but just as the cover of No Doubt's "Don't Speak" was the highlight of her debut album, she's great even when singing someone's songs and fans of real soul singing can probably enjoy this one, too.
