1. How did you get into 29? Eva Cassidy

A bunch of her songs were everywhere at some point. I bought Songbird a few years ago.

Hmm, I suspect it was something like Monkey Wrench.

I actually only own The Crane Wife. So, that one.

Three, though my brother commandeered I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love years ago and I haven’t seen it since…

6. What is your favorite song by 50? Alanis Morissette

Hand in My Pocket.

7. Is there a song by 39 that makes you sad? Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Modern Romance.

8. What is your favorite song by 15? Queens of the Stone Age

No One Knows. Great riff, great video, great song.

9. What is your favorite song by 5? Manic Street Preachers

This Is Yesterday. Or Yes.

10. Is there a song by 6 that makes you happy? We Are Scientists

We Are Scientists make me happy, full stop. .

Consolers of the Lonely beats Broken Boy Soldiers.

12. What is your favorite song by 10? Les Misérables

Um. I love this whole musical. Fantine's Death: Come to me always makes me cry, and I love Bring Him Home, and Empty Chairs at Empty Tables, but the full length Finale is probably my favourite.

Leeds festival! Good times.

Again, pretty much all their stuff is smileworthy. Toothpaste Kisses is particularly adorable.

16. How many times have you seen 25 live? Richard Hawley

Once, at Benacassim. It’s how I got into him, he wasn’t really on my radar before, but he was ace live.

17. What is the first song you ever heard by 23? No Doubt

Don’t Speak. And I hated it. As a child, I had absolutely no taste.

18. What is your favorite album by 11? Johnny Flynn

A Larum. Has another one come out? I remember thinking some release was due, but I’ve obviously forgotten all about it.

19. Who is your favorite member of 1? Placebo

I actually really loved Steve Hewitt, cue teenage crisis when he left. That said, ♥ Brian Molko.

20. Have you ever seen 14 live? Pulp

No I have not.

21. What is a good memory involving 27? The Glitterati

Going to one of their gigs in a limo for my friend’s (their biggest fan) birthday, a whole gang of us. We were like, half the audience for the support. Wearing devil horns. Actually, all the times I’ve seen them, (four?) have been really awesome. In fact, the first time I saw them was one of the catalysts that led to me falling into a certain friendship group.

Cemetry Gates, perhaps. Though you can’t argue with stone cold classics like How Soon Is Now? and There Is a Light That Never Goes Out.

23. What is the first song you ever heard by 47? Belle and Sebastian

Um, my cousin made me a mixtape with them on. I know Mayfly was on it. And The Fox in the Snow. There were a couple others as well.

24. What is your favorite album by 18? Suzanne Vega

Suzanne Vega, I haven’t heard any of her others the whole way through! Solitude Standing is on my to buy list though :)

All You Wanted. Also, Goodbye to You.

I suspect it was The Lovecats.

Funeral. It’s one of my favourite albums, period.

Right now, it’s Blackberry Stone. Overall, and for nostalgic reasons, it’s probably Failure. Other contenders are Typical and The Captain and the Hourglass

Um, whatever the first song in the film is. Good Morning Baltimore. And then I went and bought the album straight afterwards!

30. What is your favorite song by 8? Regina Spektor

Braille. Most of my other answers have been really mainstream so I reckon this one wins me obscure points. This song is DIVINE.

31. How many times have you seen 17 live? Bon Iver

None, more’s the pity.

No. Have you heard Radiohead? They’re like the most depressing band ever! No, wait, actually I lie. Lucky. That song makes me happy.

Songs of Leonard Cohen.

34. What is the worst song by 45? Seth Lakeman

I have no idea. I consider the album to be generally ok with moments of brilliance (Kitty Jay, The Bold Knight) but I can’t actually pluck out an example of a bad song.

35. What was the first song you ever heard by 34? Damien Rice

The Blower’s Daughter. Though I actually remember Cold Water being used in some scene set in a diner in some movie (vague?) that might have been before I knew who Damien Rice is.

Never. I go to lots of gigs, stop asking me about people I’ve never seen!

I giorni. Just beautiful. It’s a toss up between that and Fuori dal mondo for my funeral song.

Made-Up Love Song #43, on Xfm evenings, it was one of a number of gems found in that period.

Well he only did the one, but Grace is in fact my favourite album EVER.

Could We probably comes closest, but overall I think her songs are more pensive and (Hate) sometimes complete downers.

I don’t even know why I bought this album, I don’t think I’d ever heard of them. But playing ‘Gilt Complex’ for the first time and it just being hilariously fitting to a situation that was going on at the time.

Just a Day. Seriously. Jumping up and down like a mentalist singing that riff with my brother in Hammersmith. That song is epic.

Little Lion Man. I love me some gratuitous swearing.

Origin of Symmetry by a country mile. In my top 10 albums.

Sufjan Stevens is pretty much my favourite member of Sufjan Stevens, lol.
