You are just wonderful. I mean that sincerely. I read your blog and things. Are you sure we can't be friends? Or, failing that, could you agree that Margaret Atwood is the worst writer on the planet?

Thanks. It's been so long since I've been blonde, I almost forget what that looks like. :D

West Coast hip hop court jesters Digital Underground were originally conceived as a racially-conscious homage to Black Panther politics. However, bandleader Greg "Shock G" Jacobs took the group in a more whimsical direction after Public Enemy rose to prominence with an overtly-Afrocentric style. It's no stretch to say that only the happenstance success of Chuck D's bombastic breakthrough is the only thing that kept The Humpty Dance from being a modern-day civil rights anthem. With that in mind, I suggest that, as a matter of social solidarity, because I am a freak, and I like the girls with the boom, we at once get busy in a Burger King bathroom.

You've got a really interesting profile! Don't recognize much of it, but there's some really good stuff, like Pogues, Elisabeth Cotten and Woody Guthrie. And, of course, Bikini Kill - anything with Kathleen Hanna is OK by me :)

Hi! I'm listening to Der Partizaner Kish for the first time and you showed up as top listener. Not the first time that happens either. Anyway, your blog is great, especially the heroes. We need more of them. (I guess we should *be* more of them.) Thanks!

Sobre mim

"I have come, at the age of twenty-nine, to measure my existence in terms of history, and how I fit into history. And when I think about existence, I think about dying, and I am pleased that I will die having done the historically correct thing; i.e., live and identify with the poor and oppressed of the world, and attempt to lead a revolutionary life. I know I fall far short of my expectations, but at least I'm trying. If I waited until I was a perfect revolutionary (what's that) then I might never do anything. People often err in trying to do the right thing; does that mean they should stop and do nothing, or continue to change themselves as they change history?"
-- Susan Stern, in "With The Weathermen"
