I love the tv show The Adventures Of Pete And Pete.
I was watching an episode the other day in which, the younger Pete brother discovers his favorite song being played by a garage band (it's actually Polaris playing the song Summerbaby I think). Later on that day Pete goes to see the band who were performing his song, but he is unable to find them. As he desperately tries to find the band, his memory of the song starts to fade until he can remember only one cord.
This got me somewhat worried. If it is that easy to forget a song that you enjoyed immensely, then would be just as easy to forget a band? As I pondered this I thought about all the old bands and groups that I used to listen to, but haven't of late. Not the big bands like Red Hot Chilli Peppers or Feeder the more obscure bands that only had minor success.
So I dedicate this journal to the bands that have been somewhat forgotten. Not to try and be cool, but for the sake of my own memory. I don't want to forget these bands and the best way to remember is to keep a record. I'm going to list all of the bands and artists that I once loved, but no longer listen to, but not the larger more easily remembered artists, the smaller bands that didn't make it big. Thanks to them for making brilliant music.
Unfortunately I don't own the only single they released in their short career. All I have is the track hanging around on a mix tape, but it's one of my favourite tracks from early teenage years.
Crackout were one of those bands who were always on the cusp of great success, but never really got there. Their album This Is Really Neat had some great little tracks on it, including the brilliantly titled "You Dumb Fuck". Unfortunately the band split in November 2005.
Seriously, these guys have 3 listeners on Last.fm and I'm one of them. The reason why they have yet to become big is beyond me. Great live performances, great vocals and some really enjoyable tracks. I remember seeing these guys when I was around 18 or so, and had a great time. At the same concert I saw the group that I'm going to list next.
Again, not many Last.fm listeners but an enjoyable band. I never got the album "Idiot Savant" but I'm looking for it now and hopefully it'll be in my possession soon. From what I gather the band have now split into two groups Bobbie Peru and We Are Water, which I'll check out soon.

Anyway thats enough for tonight. I hope a few people remember some of the bands I listed and the good times they had listening to their music. As I remember more bands I'll add them, so hopefully I won't forget all the great artists I once enjoyed listening to.

Got some more bands I've almost forgotten I love to jot down:
At the time they were like nothing I'd ever heard before. Fresh and funky, just the thing to listen to on those summer days at college. I adored the track "No Competition" and remember playing it probably a little too often.
I remember discovering these guys on a C.D of upcoming artists along with another band I don't listen to so often now the Stereophonics. It's strange actually because the Phonics track that was on the album was "A Thousand Trees", which although I thought was a good track, was no match for Rialto's "Monday Morning 5:19". Funny how things work out I guess, the Phonics become massive and Rialto miss out, shows what I know about music :P. Anyway Rialto had some really epic tracks, they had a sense of grandeur about them, a real hollywood feel. This for me was what Britpop was all about.
