Also, I have commented on your new journal. Also, you totally need to get a certain experimental lab feature on here called Blasts from the Past. It's great - tells you which bands you've not listened to in a while and when it was your last listened to them. Nice little feature! x

The new year has also given me some faith in my beloved Ajax to clinch our third consecutive league title. At the moment we are trailing three points behind our rivals, but I've seen some minor developments in our play which has made me believe that the title is indeed within our grasp. As for the Premier League I found it somewhat amusing that immediately after you came with your remarkable discovery of Norwich City's unbeaten run they lost four times in a row ^^ It is indeed depressing that the same four names reign over the Premier League. As I've mentioned before, I've always had a lot of sympathy for the clubs with a good youth academy, but also Arsenal and Liverpool had my love. With all the mediocre players they have attracted, it was to be expected that they aren't competing in the top of the league, but I was still hoping (against all odds). I suppose all my faith in England has to be focused on your beloved Saints now ^^ Only two points were gathered from the three important

overall top artists. Beautiful music, senior, without a doubt the best in recent years and consistent in the level of their releases. But for the moment, I will indulge myself into more meerkat influenced music. Due to having a new laptop with a limited hard drive, I had to re-rip my albums into a smaller format. That process however is painfully slow. So in accordance with my ripping speed, I've decided to dedicate the first half of 2013 to revisit my albums in an alphabetic order. Every week 10 artists from a new letter in the alphabet. Revisiting all my albums one by one will prove to be an herculean job, almost impossible, but handpicking ten artists a week is doable at the very least. And with the many meerkat recommendations I've had in the past I reckon our compatibility will still remain super for the near future. So instead of slow diverting tastes due to new albums, going back to the old days with less computerised music and more guitars. Lets raise the (compatibility) bar!

Bom dia senhor. More than a month has passed since I was on these pages, thus it was due time to shout back! Ano novo feliz! We all survived the not so impressive apocalypse so time will have its way as always. All the best to you and the future mrs. meerkat! With 2011 coming to an end, I was expecting to see a certain list as you have compiled in the recent years. Have you been slacking, senior? ;) Even if we don't have a single album in common, I am interested to see what wonderful music has accompanied you in the past year. Mine has been mostly either depressing dark murky music with a strong bass or bright uplifting, cheery music. Really not a lot in between... But even so, I'm sure we still can find a common love for an artist as our super compatibility shows. Have both Beach House and Grizzly Bear not been to your liking? I utterly love them and that says a lot coming from yours truly. A fine example of my love has been the slow but steady rise of these two gems to my

The only positive thing is that we got four points in the Champions League against Manchester Shitty. If you're talking about lacking motivation, they're even worse than us haha! Good luck in the Premier League! I'm sure that with the excellent quality of your youth academy, the Saints can still manage to prevent their relegation. If not, it will once again be a sad day for football. Money rules the world, even in football. But I don't want to leave this shoutbox on a sad note, so I'm gonna enjoy Ajax' 1-0 win against Southampton from four months ago :P I've got some highlights that I gotta watch! Boa noite senhor!

Breathtaking Songs - an occasional series

Here's a new feature for my profile, every now & then, I'll write a rave review of a song that I adore that I haven't written about before. It might be a song that you already know & love, it might be a song you've never heard before. I just want to share more great music with you that means a lot to me! :D

#7 New Radicals - You Get What You Give

I've been conducting an unofficial poll among my workmates & friends recently & every single one of them loves this song! I really think this is one of those songs that everyone loves. What's not to love? Its a cracking great song, defiantly upbeat, lyrically & musically & sounds like a complete breath of fresh air no matter how many times you hear it. One hit wonder they may be, but what a one hit it is! :D Of course head New Radical Gregg Alexander has gone on to write brilliant pop songs for other artists - Ronan Keating - Life Is a Rollercoaster, for one. Guilty pleasure that may be, but you can't deny that its a brilliant pop song too. The guy just seems to have a Midas touch when it comes to writing great pop songs

Sample lyric

"What's real can't die"

- & the way he holds the note on that last word is a glorious musical moment that creates vast colonies of goosebumps. A stunning song anyway, but one that sounds like the most glorious thing you've ever heard when the sun is shining. Its a brilliant & perfect feelgood song & one that I'll always adore! :D

Previously on Breathtaking Songs

#1 Blue Oyster Cult - (Don't Fear) The Reaper
#2 Baz Luhrmann - Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)
#3 Underworld - Born Slippy
#4 Tears for Fears - Woman In Chains
#5 Eva Cassidy - Somewhere Over The Rainbow
#6 Bill Withers - Lovely Day

"This next song is all about friendship & its dedicated to you lot, cause you're awesome" - Guy Garvey, introducing Puncture Repair at Elbow's gig at The Roundhouse that I went to in 2008! :D

"The desert has lost its best-loved rose" - tribute to Flower, the queen of all meerkats, who lost her life defending her clan in Meerkat Manor. R.I.P. Flower :(

"I don't pretend to know what you want, but I offer love." - Crowded House - Distant Sun - THE most beautiful song lyric I know - simple, unpretentious, honest, uncomplicated & utterly perfect in every way. :)

"I plant the kind of kiss that wouldn't wake a baby on the self-same face that wouldn't let me sleep." - Elbow - Mirrorball - possibly the cutest, sweetest opening line to any song. :)

"Don't know why I'm still afraid. If you weren't real, I would make you up" - Joseph Arthur - Honey and the Moon - then again, these opening lines are pretty unbeatable too :)

"Don't ever change & don't take no shit from anyone."

"Rock 'n' scroll!"

"Life is so full of unpredictable beauty & strange surprises. Sometimes the beauty is too much for me to handle. Do you know that feeling? When something is just too beautiful? When someone says something or writes something or plays something that moves you to the point of tears, maybe even changes you." - Extract from Things The Grandchildren Should Know by Mark Oliver Everett

'How are you still upright?'

'What is your fascination with my forbidden closet of mystery?'

Page views since 3rd October 2008 (when I finally got this nifty little thing!) -

"It looked as if I picked your name out of a hat. Next thing you know, you are asleep in someone's lap." - The New Pornographers - The Bleeding Heart Show

" Please don't, don't make me sleep alone. If I could, I'd only wanna make you smile. If you were to stay with me a while." - +44 - Make You Smile

The rest of my fave song lyrics HAVE MOVED! They can now be found in a separate journal if you want to check them out. :) I'm adding to them all the time so keep checking back! This decision was not taken lightly but a friend recently told me that it takes about half an hour to scroll down my page, so I thought I'd de-clutter it a bit!
