Music is my passion!

Throughout my life, my musical tastes have evolved. As a child growing up in Detroit, MI, USA (the "Motor City") I was fortunate to live close to and meet many Motown musicians. Their music and way of life influenced me deeply. However, as powerful an influence as the Motown sound was in my youth, Jazz was even more significant to me.

Both of my parents listened to Jazz records nearly every night. I listened also; upstairs while I "should have been sleeping." Detroit also had a great radio a station called WJZZ. All forms of Jazz were played on this station. The format was that several tracks in a row were played before the DJ commented on each of them. This forced the listener (me in particular) to remember the order and sound of the tunes so that I could find the name and details of the artist I might have liked. This added to my knowledge of Jazz.

At present, I am recapturing my passion for Jazz!
