O thrash metal é uma subdivisão do heavy metal conhecida por uma maior velocidade e maior peso do que seus antecessores. Suas origens remontam ao fim da década de 1970 e começo da década de 1980, quando um grande número de bandas começou a incorporar elementos da NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) com a nova música punk e hardcore que surgia, criando assim um novo estilo. " Don´t you know about some bands,like Overkill,Exodus,Metal Church?,Metallica invented nothing,all these bands were playing thrash before Kill em all was released,Metallica just were the first in release the album,i´m pretty sure,that if Exodus had released Bonded By Blood in 1983 and Metallica Kill em all on 1985,they wouldn´t get that much praise,and they would still be underground (and better). It ís for bands like,Venom,Judas Priest,Diamond Head,Celic Frost,Mercyful Fate,Raven,Accept,etc that we have thrash today,Metallica drinked a lot of these bands (especially Diamond Head).

We should all agree that Metallica was true Thrash Metal back in their day. Now, they are a bit more towards heavy metal than thrash.
