Speed Metal is, by its present-day definition, any Metal that is too melodic to be Thrash but too aggressive to be Power Metal. It's something in between. The perfect example is "Soundchaser" by Rage. It's too damn evil to be Power Metal like Hammerfall, but too melodic to be Thrash like Kreator. In short, Speed Metal is Power Metal with balls. ;-)

Slayer really don't. Megadeth do, possibly. What with Peace Sells being their only album that could be considered a thrash metal album (and I consider My Last Words to be a speed metal song). I consider Rust in Peace and Killing is my Business to be speed metal, and So Far So Good to be a mix between speed and thrash.
