"Yep, Chicago house is a precursor and direct influence on techno ". I'd say they just about happened simultaneously actually. Juan Atkins has been making trax since the mid-80s. But yeah, when you think of Larry heards stuff, there really wasn't (and shouldn't have been) much difference between the two 'genres' except geographically. Shame the House label has since been largely used to reference music with a big helping of cheese.
