If a musician pursues a form but has no level of uniqueness and do this for a commercial gain, then they are not an artist. If you listen to a song and if it only affects in a lyrical, social, or rhythmic base than the song isn't worth much merit of true art. This is commercialism, the main cause of this is the less focus of music/art education in our academics. If you think about it, popular musicians of popular forms of music are getting less and less sophisticated with time. People see forms of music as simply cultures and groups of people and ignore the artistic content. Commercialism, is being more interested in a form of music in a social sense instead of a artistic sense.
