Well I think with them it's pretty much the opinions of the band members that matters, which lots of times esp. in instrumental bands comes through, but the people playing black metal are humans and no one can say they're 'right' so true black metal is kind of a paradox. Lol I'm a nerd. But even though you can't always tell who's a poser and who's serious about it, I think (not with music quality but with how 'true' they are) it's the intent that matters.

This is a music website, the description is about the music only, bands playing christian black metal are not black metal bands. And the fans are annoying cause they don't know what they're talking about and they're ignorant posers. Posers isn't the word, cause they're not being ignorant intentionally, but that's how you could describe all people which is what black metal is against.

There's not really a reason why shoegaze and black metal can't go together- both have roots in DIY and punk (listen to my bloody valentines first few eps when they were essentially a goth postpunk band), theyre more about aesthetics and sounds rather than songwriting, and its not like black metal has never put clean, reverbed singing to good use to create atmosphere.
