From Unsigned Christmas OK well I hope these rules are the fairest they can be. For our new fun awards for Unsigned performers. That can be found here on last.fm. As I have put in the heading these are amendable for about a month. But I am sure everyone will understand. That this can only be suggested to. And carried out by one of the group's co-leaders. These are Acuvi sussilo scramuss and myself vjsupersaint
This hopefully will save us from wholesale mayhem and confusion.

Please do not use this thread for amendment suggestions. Please approach one of the afore-mentioned leaders. Failing that please use the shoutboxes within any of our groups. OK so just a few rules then.

1] All Unsigned artists with music on last.fm are eligible for nomination. However they must have at least one full preview. And/or at least one free download track available for listeners. To help us all to decide on what to vote for.

2] Any artist nominated. Must be a member of at least one of our Unsigned groups. This helps everyone in so many ways. But mainly these points. The artist gets a track connected to the group's *playlist*. The listener gets to hear and enjoy that track. And all members are able to communicate with each other through threads or shoutboxes.The leaders can also multi-message all members if neccessary.

*In the Chrisrmas group all tracks are supplied. And even especially made for the group. By the artists themselves. A sure sign that Unsigned artists are the most generous in the world.*

3] Suggestions for nominations can be made by any group member. And approved by one of the group leaders. But please keep this sensible. A limit may have to be applied in an amendment. Of maybe 5 or 10 maximum nominations per member. This all depends on the amount of support this multi-group project gets.

4] Artists may not nominate themselves. Your fans/listeners/friends will do this for you. If they are a member. You can nominate a fellow artist. Again they do have to be a member of one of our groups though.

5] For the sake of group harmonies. Under no circumstances will a nomination for. Or votes by an artist[es] that have made trouble for fellow artists. Or indeed for any listener on LastFm be accepted. Any complaints received. Will have to be investigated by one of the group leaders. In other words, please show one of us the proof of this. I'm really sorry that we have to imply this rule. But it hopefully acts as a good safeguard for all members.

6] For goodness sake. Please have fun with this. And share us with as many of your friends as you possibly can. Nominees will be accepted until December 31st 2009. And the winners announced on some cold night in what is renowned to be the most depressing month of the year. That being January 2010. Please can we have some suggestions for a date in our shoutboxes thanks.

OK well I'm very almost ready. Are you? The awards are finally finished. Although I will add more if someone can think of a really good one. Or indeed one that I may well have missed.

And artists please let all your listeners know. And listeners please share this with all your friends here. Hopefully this will make this a great and meaningful bit of fun. For a couple of months this winter.

Now no-one has actually given us a proposed date for this. Although I did ask. So I propose either Sunday 17th or 24th january 2010.
This will help keep the traditional post-Christmas blues away I hope.

Now as for voting. How about we start on Sunday 8th November 2009. And close on Sunday 10th January 2010. This gives us a full 2 months to listen to and vote for our favourites. With plenty of time to listen to all our Christmas favourites during December too.

So as you can all see. That gives us a week or two just to check that everything is right at the end. And that we are suitably well in anticipation of results night.

Now here is how our votes should look with a little sample here. Using bands as an example.

1. My band-10pts.
2. Your band-7pts.
3. Her band-5pts.
4. His band-3pts.
5. Our band-1pt.

The top five scores of 10-7-5-3 & 1. Will be universal right across all our groups. I was going to create a league table. But with around 400 connected artists. Over what is now 8 groups. That would be just impossible. So if anyone can make this better. Please let us know how.

I did try experimenting with a few ideas to help make this easier. But of course none of it worked. I'll copy this to the 7 participating groups that we have. But please see carefully via our connections as these are all the nominees. And via the awards threads in each group. As this is what we are voting for.

Not all connections are active here on LastFM. But rest-assured awards only go to those that are. This is why we need a week or two at the end of the voting.

Hope everything is crystal clear now.

1. Cup for favourite artist.
2. Trophy for favourite band.
3. Four awards; Two for vocal solo performers. Female & Male. And the same for Non-Vocal solo performers. In the regional groups. The vocalists and non-vocalists are combined.
4. Best Music Video.
5. Best Songwriter.
6. Best Song. [Up to & including 2009]. This will be yearly from here on in.
7.Best Album. [Same rule applied as in category 6].
World Awards ONLY!
8. Best Christmas Song.
9. Smiling Through The Music Award. And finally!!!!!!!!!
10. The Music Award.

Explanations should all be with each award. So there's no confusion among us. I apologise now. That I can only use English as a language in which to say all this. So thanks from the four of us. To all that take part. Please leave all your votes in the threads marked. Voting for Unsigned Awards 2009. I will bracket all these as to where to place your votes. i.e. [World] for this one. [UK] for UK and so on Etc.
