maudlin of the Well (normalmente abreviada como motW) é uma banda de Avantgarde Progressive Metal de Boston. Sua música contém elementos de vários gêneros, tais como doom metal, indie rock, new age, death metal e progressive metal. Eles lançaram três álbuns de estúdio antes de finalizar carreira em 2003. Os álbuns foram:
My Fruit Psychobells… A Seed Combustible (1999)
Bath (2001)
Leaving Your Body Map (2001)
E depois voltaram em 2009 para gravar um album que foi pago com a colaboração de 87 fãs da banda, o genial, Part The Second sendo o album com grande influencia de música Classica e Jazz.
A banda manteve um núcleo consistente que consiste de Jason Byron, Greg Massi e Toby Driver. Durante sua carreira, uma espécie de “porta giratória” de membros e musicistas de estúdio/shows envolvidos na mesma.

I feel like Part the second is more Kayo Dot than maudlin. The string arrangements and vocals remind me of the song wayfarer, and the use of horns is more akin to KD than anything MOTW.

Part the Second isn't that far off their normal softer stuff. So I have no problem with it. As far as album order from best to not quite as good, Bath > MFP > PTS > LYBM

For me, PART THE SECOND is just behind BATH, which is their best for me. LEAVING YOUR BODY MAP is also lovely. One of the best EVER bands!

I find Part the Second their second weakest album, but I guess I am some 666-kvltfag as well. Without the growls in songs like They Aren't All Beautiful, the album would not be the same.

I love how an even slightly new direction has half the fans loving them for being original and interesting (which they always are) and the other half hating them for changing. You cant help think some people would actually *prefer* it if their favorite bands release the same record over and over.
