Perhaps my favorite song of all time to drive to. This song and LCD Soundsystem's All My Friends. [2]

lyrics are great, would be even better though if they were: marihuana, marihuana, sun is shining, marihuana.

...concerning this, the opening track of aforementioned threat-titled work... What are the chances of "Goodkind" being a reference to Fantasy / Fiction author Terry Goodkind of "Wizard's First Rule" etc. fame?

This is a kick-ass opener from an album that threatens to beat yours. The remainder of the album falls flat (on its ass?) when placed next to "Pass The Hatchet, I Think I'm Goodkind" (which - unfortunately - is precisely where it IS placed in the running order of the album). 'I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Kick Your Ass' is sort of a mirror image of its successor. Where its wad was prematurely shot by opening with 'Pass The... Goodkind'; Yo La Tenga's follow up work, 'Popular Songs', saves the best for last. The first half is a hodgepodge of musical styles that include three or four decent indie-rock songs, about a half-dozen pop tunes ranging from 'mediocre' down to the 'pure suck' of a couple of stinkers which I now skip in order to sooner enjoy the - not one, but three - works of genius that clock in at over half the duration of the album; "side two" in 'vinyl era' parlance, outlasting the nine lesser tracks of what we would have called "side one" of "Popular Songs'.
