Hmmm... checked these songs on Youtube (only found a live version for Tonight) but I couldn't get into them. Seems she changed her style to rock, but just like miwa, it sounds more like teen pop rock than anything else to me. I even think her old folk pop style suited her better.

I see what you mean. I've always considered her first two albums her worst ones, but not really for those reasons. She changed her stye from her first two albums onward but most fans don't like it that she changed it (though I personally love it). For lyrical dept, try the song Love is all from I LOVED YESTERDAY. You could also try never say die, Sea and Tonight (these are all on singles only). Though I'm really not sure if you're going to like these, seeing as I don't completely know how exactly do you feel your music.

I was referring to her first two albums (haven't listened to her since), they sounded really weak. It has nothing to do with complexity, I'm an avid listener of minimalist music, but here it's just bland, like she's not willing to show an ounce of personality. Actually, YUI's style reminds me a lot of Joyce Jonathan; it's okay as background music and there sure is worse music out there, but it's pretty blatant she's not willing to take any musical or lyrical risk. But maybe that's why people like her. Anyways, she may have improved since, I dunno. Feel free to recommend some recent songs, I'm curious.

I agree that she does not have the most innovative songs, but I love them exactly for that simplicity they have. And also, they are full of emotion. Maybe it's hard to see this listening to her songs for the first time, but the emotions are definitely there. Judging by your library, you must like more complex compositions (I'm going with this because Shikata is your most played artist), therefore YUI just might not be the type of music you are looking for. But still, I love both Shikata's and YUI's music so I don't see how you couldn't too if you really wanted to give her a try.
