Erskineville (2003 – presente)

Wolfmother é uma banda australiana de hard rock formada em Erskineville, subúrbio de Sydney, em 2003. Consiste em Andrew Stockdale (vocal e guitarra), Chris Ross (baixo e teclado) e Myles Heskett (bateria). Sua música é descrita como um rock retrô, e inspirado em grandes bandas da década de 1970 como Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin e Deep Purple.

Em 2004 o Wolfmother começou a aparecer em diversos eventos musicais, como o Homebake e o Big Day Out. Lançaram seu EP de estréia e auto-entitulado pela Modular Recordings em Setembro do mesmo ano.

Em 2005 a banda se mudou para Los Angeles (Estados Unidos), trabalhando com o produtor musical Dave Sardy (que já havia trabalhado anteriormente com bandas como Red Hot Chili Peppers, Marilyn Manson e Oasis) para gravar seu álbum de estréia, lançado em outubro do mesmo ano. Mind’s Eye/

Woman.

Em 2006, a revista Rolling Stone listou o Wolfmother como uma das dez melhores bandas para assistir. Em abril do mesmo ano, sua canção

Love Train estrelava o comercial de televisão do Apple iPod. A banda apareceu no The Late Show with David Letterman em 9 de junho. Em julho apresentaram-se no famoso festival T In The Park na Escócia, ganhando um grande público britânico.

A banda recebeu o Grammy de 2007 para Melhor Desempenho de Hard Rock pela canção

Woman. Concorrendo ao mesmo prêmio estavam bandas como System of a Down, Tool e Nine Inch Nails.

SHIT! They broke up? Goddamnit, I loved them. Oh well, no use crying about it. Besides, apparently Stockdale will replace the other two members, so the band will go on. And the two other guys have started their own band. I guess this could turn out cool, but the original band had chemistry that might be hard to reproduce, and their first album was the shit.

nope these guys aren't with the stoner rock/metal bands. they have nothing on sleep or kyuss. they probably know nothing about the roots of led zeppelin's lyrics and zep's inspiration of crowley either. they're just a rehashing band. major labels are getting desperate, hahaha.
