Słyszeliście o tym aby bugi (błędy) mogły inspirować ? Owszem, mogą ;) Z okazji dziwacznego błędu, który dziś zagościł na moim profilu - zresetowania się licznika odsłuchań (ponoć naprawia się automatycznie po 24h, zobaczymy) - pomyślałem, że napiszę o mojej przygodzie z muzyką, pewnym Tworem, który pozwolił mi okiełznać chaos oraz co zyskałem stając się członkiem niezwykłej społeczności. Wszak już od jakiegoś czasu owa społeczność stała się częścią mojego życia, aczkolwiek można by rzec, że jestem raczej jej cichym obserwatorem. No ale... przejdźmy do meritum.
Będzie pewno wiało nudą, znajdzie się też nieco specyficznego filozofowania Tomasza, ale będzie też śmiesznie, mroczno "i w ogóle" fajnie będzie, także zapraszam :P

Część I – The Beginning (Lata '90, chaos)
Nigdy nie byłem wielkim znawcą sceny muzycznej (aczkolwiek aktualnie staram się to zmienić). Nie wchodziłem w historię kapel, ich skład, w ogóle nie śledziłem ich poczynań. Problem nie tkwił w tym, że mnie to nie interesowało. Byłem młody, „chłonąłem” wszystko wokół, więc pewno by mnie zainteresowało, niestety warunki w „tamtych” czasach niezbyt pozwalały na zgłębianie tej wiedzy. Wieś, pomijam brak Internetu, który w Polsce stawiał dopiero pierwsze kroki (w ogóle to nie ten wiek!), jeden czarno-biały TV na kilku domowników, mentalność rodziców, którzy ciągle albo na roli albo przy domu coś grzebali. Kieszonkowe na jakieś publikacje ? Przez parę dobrych lat każdy grosz okładałem, oszczędzając na... komputer ;) Istny wiejski Alcatraz. I jak tu rozwijać swoje gusta muzyczne ?
A jednak, byli bracia, którzy mieli dobry sprzęt grający, sporą kolekcję taśm MC (pamiętacie jeszcze co to ? :D), małą kolekcję płyt kompaktowych i to nie byle co: mogłem poznać piękno muzyki celtyckiej dzięki płytce The Voyager, Mike Oldfield'a, magię syntezatorów i muzyki elektronicznej czyli Marek Biliński ze swoim E≠mc², oczywiście nie mogło się obejść bez Equinoxe Jean-Michel Jarre'a. Mogłem także poczuć nieco muzyki progresywnej mianowicie The Division Bell, Pink Floydów, ale byłem jeszcze chyba zbyt młody, aby ona do mnie wtedy dotarła. Był niezwykły Vangelis z albumami Antarctica, Chariots Of Fire oczywiście genialna ścieżka dźwiękowa do Blade Runnera oraz wiele innych. Było troche Queensów, ABBA oraz wiele innych, których nazw nie pamiętam.
W końcu dostałem własny „sprzęt grający” - radio oraz odtwarzaczem taśm magnetofonowych. Długo się nim nie nacieszyłem, został mi on „skonfiskowany” i do dziś służy mamie jako wypełnienie ciszy w kuchni :)
Niemniej, plotka o tym, że Tomasz posiadał coś grającego doszła aż do Świętego Mikołaja i w zamian za to, że byłem grzeczny dostałem parę kaset MC, niestety... Święty okazał się mieć kiepski gust. Większość z nich chyba nigdy nie przesłuchałem do końca. No ale, znalazła się też jedna kaseta, która mnie zaintrygowała, oczywiście w porównaniu z tym co wyżej wymieniłem nie było to nic ambitnego, niejeden tutaj pewno mnie zaraz wyśmieje jak powiem, że chodzi o The Kelly Family, folk/pop. Jest to o tyle ciekawe i warte wspomnienia, że wcześniej tylko się delektowałem muzyką, tak jak pisałem wcześniej, nie interesowałem się innymi dziełami artystów, których wtedy już poznałem natomiast po parokrotnym przesłuchaniu Almost Heaven miałem ochotę na więcej, a jako że do kasety dołączona była książeczka z wydrukowaną chyba całą dyskografią TKF, wiedziałem, że mają coś jeszcze na swoim koncie. Później, gdzieś, u kogoś rozpoznałem okładkę innego albumu TKF, oczywiście musiałem pożyczyć.
Na antenie TVP2 pojawił się dosyć ciekawy program muzyczny – 30 ton, emitowana co tydzień lista przebojów w formie niepełnych teledysków na podstawie najbardziej sprzedających się albumów. Niestety mogłem oglądać tylko wtedy, gdy TV był wolny, a jak na złość nie był zbyt często. Niemniej to był dla mnie duży skok. Poznałem wiele kapel, głównie popowych, ale nie tylko. Madonna z IMHO najlepszą jej płytką the ray of light, oraz genialnym utworem Frozen (do dziś pamiętam ten mroczny teledysk), Céline Dion, nasze Elektryczne Gitary z niezłymi tekstami Kuby Sienkiewicza, ale także Metallica, z klasykiem Nothing Else Matters, aczkolwiek przez długi czas nie przemawiał do mnie trash. No można by wymieniać dłuugo.
Nadszedł rok 2000, dostałem się do liceum. Nastał tzw. okres młodzieńczego buntu, rozpoczęła się moja przygoda z cięższymi brzmieniami. Ale o tym w następnej części...

Część II – The Middle (Nowy wiek)
Szkoła średnia – bunt, „szatanista”, klątwa Eddyego T.H., pierwszy poważny koncert ;)

Nowa szkoła, nowe twarze, różne subkultury... zaczęło się od Łukasza („szatanista” jakby powiedziała niejedna babcia widząc gościa z czachą na koszulce) który zaraził mnie i jeszcze parę osób ostrą muzą.
Od razu rzuciłem się na głęboką wodę: słuchało się głównie Cradle of Filth oraz Dimmu Borgir, ale krótko... niezrozumiały growling i tematyka mnie nie przekonały, aczkolwiek Spiritual Black Dimensions jest całkiem przyjemnym albumem, a teledysk Progenies of the Great Apocalypse po prostu wymiata :D Spróbowałem czegoś trochę bardziej lajtowego mianowicie Iron Maiden. Pożyczyłem od kumpla kilka płytek, były to bodaj The Number of the Beast, The Killers oraz No Prayer For The Dying. Pierwsze wrażenie ? Nie spodobało mi się, zasnąłem sobie słuchając The Killers. Budzę się godzinkę później, muza dalej gra iii ?! I stwierdzam, że jest po prostu zajebista. Zakochałem się w tym co ludzie zdefiniowali jako nwobhm (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal), czyżby Eddy (maskotka IM) miał coś z tym wspólnego ? :)
Zakupiłem sobie kilka płytek IM Brave New World, później Fear Of The Dark, The X Factor oraz koncertówkę A Real Live Dead One.
Po półtorej roku, jak mi włosy podrosły babcie pod kościołem zaczęły patrzeć krzywo na mnie – klasyk, stałem się oficjalnie buntownikiem, „szatanistą”, ateistą i w ogóle najgorszym bydłem. Zdziwiła by się większość z tych ludzi, jakby wiedzieli, że (jak większość „metali”) nie urywałem głowy kotom, nie brałem udziału w czarnych mszach, nie rysowałem pentagramów na każdym słupie. Oczywiście były rockoteki, chociaż nie były ostro zakrapiane, nie kręciło mnie to.
Rok 2003, razem z kolegą Damianem jedziemy na koncert Iron Maiden - Give me Ed.. 'til I'm Dead Tour '03 w Katowicach (Spodek). Będąc na płycie 30m od sceny słuchając i widząc do wyprawiają Dickinson z Harrisem oraz resztą bandy byłem pod ogromnym wrażeniem (do dziś mam zachowany bilet), na drugi dzień oczywiście nie umiałem wypowiedzieć słowa ;)
Damian podsunął mi coś nowego Keeper Of The Seven Keys grupy Helloween, z głosem Kiske. Byłem w niebo wzięty. Szkoda, że chłopaki nie umieli się dogadać i Kiske opuścił Helloween. W tym okresie spotkałem się z zawodem miłosnym, więc z metalem symfonicznym (gotyckim), który działa(ł) na mnie kojąco miałem również do czynienia, kapele Nightwish oraz Within Temptation często mi towarzyszyły.
Tak naprawdę mimo krótkiego epizodu, nigdy nie uważałem się za „metalowca”. Często wracałem do starych, znanych perełek poznanych dzięki 30 tonom. Na jednej z aukcji w mojej szkole, chyba na WOŚP wylicytowałem kasetę VHS Pink Floyd – Live at Pompei, chociaż znałem już Floydów nie wiedziałem czego się po niej spodziewać (w końcu eksperymentowali oni z dźwiękiem), więc wylicytowałem w ciemno. I wcale tego nie żałuję ;)
W końcu mam Internet, dzięki któremu zaczęła mnie interesować kultura celtycka, poznałem magię muzyki jaką tworzyła Loreena McKennitt w The Book of Secrets oraz The Mask and Mirror, zresztą każdy jej album jest po prostu genialny. Polski Shannon ze swą niezwykłą interpretacją bretońskiej pieśni Tri Martolod również zrobił na mnie ogromne wrażenie. W tym czasie usłyszałem o grupie Carrantuohill nota bene, pochodzącej z sąsiedniego miasta. W moje ręce wpadła ich płytka Inis. Zespół zaprosił do współpracy wielu znanych polskich artystów (m.in. A.M. Jopek, A. Lipicka, P. Kukiz, S. Sojka) tworząc przepiękną opowieść o Irlandii.
Niemniej najlepsze było dopiero przede mną...

15. Behemoth - Evangelion
People have been calling this the follow up that Demigod deserved. Wile Apostasy wasn't bad, Evangelion was much better. Darker, heavier, and much more focused than it's predecessor. Defiantly prime Behemoth.

14. Heaven & Hell - The Devil You Know
It's Ozzy era riffs with Dio's vocals. How could someone like this call it bad? This is what The Dio Years lightly tongued our nutsack with a few years ago. This is the full Ava Devine quality blowjob of old school metal with amazing present day production.

13. Echoes of Eternity - As Shadows Burn
Fully Realized Potential. The "should not work but does" combo of intense riffs and beautiful vocals made for a very enjoyable listen. For those who think Within Temptation is to girly, but Into Eternity is to extreme should find something to like with this album.

12. Animals as Leaders - Animals As Leaders
Wow. A bit more eclectic than my favorite instrumental album by Blotted Science, but this is still pretty good. It's interesting to see the other side of Tosin Abasi, someone that makes their living off of a genre that's usually dull and predictable as Deathcore. Maybe I should check out his main band Born of Osiris.

11. Amesoeurs - Amesoeurs
More genius by a guy calling himself snow (or Neige since he's french). I fucking loved Alcest and this is just a more metallic version of that. Well not just. There's more post punk than shoegaze this time around. To bad the band broke up after the album was released. Yeah, this was more a whole band thing than Alcest. Guess Neige is not that much a people person.

My favourite american idol contestant! Chris Daughtry formed the band Daughtry after "loosing" the idol contest. His rock songs sounds fresh to the ears after listening to one after another pop or country singer from the other Idol winners.

Nek, along with Laura Pausini are the best artists from italy i've heard ever! Similar to Laura Pausini, Nek also makes great pop music, nice rhythm, refreshing, future proof. For the same reason as RBD, i think Nek does not deserve to be at No. 1.

Seeing as 2009 ends in less than 2 days I thought I'd compile a list of songs that really impacted and that were there with when I needed them to be in 2009:

10. When We Were Beautiful by Bon Jovi

Whenever I listen to this song I get a sense of lost hope and reflection - to when things were perfect. This year I definitely had the feeling of wanting to "get out of the rain" during the "storm". As the song progresses the sense of hope is re-established and that is how it is in life: there are good times and there are bad nothing lasts forever. I love how this song portrays that, its very comforting especially during these times.

9. Riverdance by Enya

Riverdance is the first of two songs on this list that do not have lyrics. In fact I have another 2 songs where the lyrics are not in English. This demonstrates the universal element to music. Enya is one of my top Artists I was introduced to her music through Lord of the Rings she song "May it Be (Evening Star)". From there I just found more of her music and fell in love. I like to divide this song into two parts:

-the first segment is very "new age". Melody is like a celtic trance with beautiful harps and flutes in the background.

-the second part is "Riverdance"

8. Somewhere

Beautiful melody beautiful lyrics - one of my top Within Temptation Songs and it is my most scrobbled track in my library ♥

7. Memories by Within Temptation

This song cries with me when I need to cry, it takes me away to a very far away place when I need to escape. I think this is one of the best song ever to be composed it is so beautiful. When I listen to it I think "Beauty" - it my 4th highest scrobbed track in my library

6. Hills of Myst by Within Temptation

This is the second song my list without lyrics. It is so mystical! It reminds me of the lands I would read about in the "Pellinor Series" books by Allison Crogan. I love the fantacy and the sense of adventure I get from this song. I've fallen asleep to this song many nights in Waterloo...

5. Hymne by Era

This is the first of two songs with lyrics that are not in English. The amazing thing about the lyrics in this song it is not any language! It is a pseudo-latin language made up by the composer. Era is a New Age project that I found out about through Last.fm. This song is beyond amazing. I remember during the summer when I worked at a camp I would walk into the foothills and have this song on repeat. What I specifically remember is my encounter with a deer while listening to this song - it was the most amazing...

4. Oceano by Josh Groban

How convenient! The second Non-English song is the next one. This song is sung in Italian (those latin languages pseudo or not are beautiful when sung). I never looked at the translation until a few seconds a go - (when I was trying to figure out what language the song is spoken in so I could report it in this entry :P).

3. Learn To Love by Bon Jovi

The first song I fell in love with off their new album "The Circle". I love this song because the melody is amazing but most importantly the LYRICS! This is why Bon Jovi is my favourite rock band - the truthfulness and the reality in their lyrics just makes me feel above it all. "We gotta Learn to love the world your living in" just so powerful... the words speak for themselves...

2. Be Unto Your Name by Robin Mark

Robin Mark is a Christian singer from Ireland. My mom bought his CD some odd years ago and I remember she use to blast it loud on Saturday mornings and I would wake up to a loud "HOLY LORD JESUS" lol. Well back then I was lost when it came to my spiritual being. I have now found my spiritual path and I think I may have to thank this artist for helping me do so...my spirituality is something I do not like to gloat about due to the negative effects that religion has had in this world ESPECIALLY this past decade ...this song just gives me hope in all the spiritual aspects of my life ...so beautiful!

1. All Roads Lead Home by Golden State

Here it is! The top song of 2009. I recently got into it via a Flashpoint episode I watched called "The Perfect Storm". Found out the song name downloaded it and I've had it on repeat ever since. Amazing!! I've wrote entries on this song in the past so I am not going to repeat my self....


This list was not easy to compose. It is very difficult to rank music, at least for me anyway because the music I listen to greatly depends on where I am in that moment of time. Bon Jovi is my favourite band yes but there are times where I am like argh I want to listen to something else. They are my favourite band because I always end up going back to them. My other favourite band Within Temptation it is the same thing. I am going to end this entry with a song that did not make it to the top 10 list but is worth mentioning...

I heard this song years ago during a WWE promo (wrestling has been an amazing source of music in my life believe it or not) it was the Triple Threat Match - John Cena, Triple H, and Randy Orton at Wrestlemania whatnot. They played this song in the beginning of the promo and I remember spending countless hours trying to find out what this song was. A year passed and then I decided to resume the search again and SUCCESS! I found it downloaded it and have loved it ever since...this song also contains lyrics that are not in English...it's not a language at all but it is beauty
