Wishbone Ash

Em julho de 1966, os irmãos Glen e Martin Turner se encontraram com Steve Upton, que havia tocado profissionalmente na Alemanha e Inglaterra e convidaram-no a formar o Empty Vessels. O nome não durou muito e logo virou Tanglewood. O trio saiu de sua cidade natal, Exetel, e partiu para Londres.
Sem sorte, o grupo estava quase desistindo quando foram convidados a abrir o show do The Yardbirds. Miles Copeland, que assistiu à apresentação, ficou bem impressionado com o som do Tanglewood e ofereceu-se como empresário do grupo. O guitarrista Glen Turner decidiu voltar para Exeter, mas a dupla Martin e Steve continuou em Londres com Miles Copeland. Eles precisavam de um guitarrista e Miles distribuiu papéis na cidade convocando os candidatos.
Durante a audição, a dupla gostou de dois, David Ted Turner e Andy Powell. Eles decidiram não contratar um tecladista e ficaram com os dois guitarristas. As influências musicais dos novos integrantes foram incorporadas ao som rock do grupo: Powell com o soul e David mais próximo do blues norte-americano. Eles perceberam que era necessário trocar de nome, precisavam de um que não os rotulasse, já que a mistura de ritmos estava presente e aberta para novidades. Em 1970, iniciou-se a carreira do Wishbone Ash.

Wow! "Why Don't We" just popped onto last.fm radio, and I've got to say it's absolutely epic. Perfect pacing, awesome tone, although the vocals are a bit annoying. Still, can't wait to discover more of this band. I really hope that this song is representative of their overall sound.

hehe i found "Argus" (remastered) beetween my dads other cd's. I heard about its mind blowin' good sound (in the remastered version) in some hifi-internet-forums - so i head to give it a try. WOW. the music is so great and the sound quality gives so many details. Just the tone in the guitar is awesome. really great great album.

I got few Wishbone Ash concert live DVD from local library and each one of them have really bad audience. They have bad luck with timeing their DVD recordings! :( Music is very brilliant way genious and timeless.

Thats fantastic news, Mach1neHead! I almost need to agree with Roelant's earlier comment. I dont know about Four being better than Argus, but certainly Wishbone Four my personal favourite. I saddly dont have my Wishbone records here anymore.. I so wish I still had them.

I've seen them live 4 times, the more recent time was amazing. It was a private party for one my Dad's friends that knows the band personally. After the best gig I've seen of there's, we all talk to them, got a few posters signed and shared a drink at the bar. Absolutely fantastic.
