I haven't listened to Why? in so long. I don't know why (no pun intended). I guess I just took a break and forgot to come back.

This song is so devastatingly powerful; it alters my DNA every time I hear it.

I also think along with the end of the track it may be a traditional Jewish song/prayer being said in the background with the applause. Anyone else hear this or know?

Most depressing but poetic depiction of atheism/nihilism: "Cold and hard as a marble table top / With nothing on top / There's no hip-hip-hop-hooray / Heaping heaven golden bone gateway" and all the lines that follow that part, just a harsh, real, piercingly beautiful take on atheism/nihilism.

The part right after he says "and when I finally do it" a split harmony starts. This works so perfectly, representing the separation of the life from his body at that moment. Not sure if it was intentional, but still just as effective if it wasn't.

I think the applause at the end is cut from Nirvana's Unplugged record, if you listen carefully you'll hear Kurt Cobain saying "good evening".

The ending of this song is probably the most emotion I've ever heard someone put into singing. So beautiful I don't feel worthy of it, like I should become a better person and then come back to it.
