Podczas jednego z tych dni, w których człowiek siada i szuka nowej muzyki w sieci, wpadłam na takiego dziwoląga. Pierwszą myślą, gdy ich ujrzałam było: "O mamo! Oni umarli na gruźlicę i to pewnie podczas jednej z XVIII/XIX wiecznych epidemii". Na szczęście był to tylko i wyłącznie image, a ich twórczość okazała się zabawnym połączeniem sympatycznego wokalu, growlu potworów i wilkołaczej dzikości. Nie są wybitni, nie są wyjątkowi. Za to są czymś przyjemnym, gdy mamy gorszy dzień i niekoniecznie chcemy walić pięścią w ścianę, gdy jedziemy w zatłoczonym autobusie pełnym nieżyczliwych ludzi i gdy sąsiedzi komunikują się ze sobą przy pomocy stukania w kaloryfer :)

Tutaj trochę o zespole

Verjnuarmu jest fińską kapelą grającą melodic death metal, nazywany przez nich Savo metal (zapewne nazwane od dialektu w którym śpiewają) . Po fińsku Verjnuarmu znaczy krwawa blizna. Ich utwory charakteryzują się specyficznym savońskim poczuciem humoru (czyli takim czarnym :P).

This poll will be closed on August 4th, when I'm back from vacation!

tYhJyYsRuLeS came along with the idea of an league for rock and metal bands. And not just with the idea. Now I want to start the Finnish Rock League. But I can't do this alone. It will be the same procedure as in the German league. You will vote for bands. Everyone can name up to 10 bands, but you may name one band only one time. All named bands have to play rock. It doesn't matter if classic rock, punk, heavy metal, grindcore or anything else. The German league is based on the German Fußball Bundesliga. So the Finnish Rock League will be based on the finnish Veikkausliiga. This means, that in the league will be the 14 bands with the most votes. If there will be enough bands (28 or more), there will be a second league called Ykkönen, too. In this one will be the bands, that are on ranks from 15 to 28.

I'm also searching for someone from Finland to translate that and lead the Group... Finnish Rock League Feel free to join

+++ Iced Earth

Verdammt wie lange das warten doch war auf die neue Scheibe von IE. Die Spannung war riesig und wieder mal haben mich die Amis nicht enttäuscht. Mit viel Energie und Wucht und einem atemberaubenden Konzept, brachten sie mir dieses Jahr einer der musikalischen Höhepunkte ins Haus. Wieder mal ein fettes Lob an Schaffer und seine Leute, freu mich schon auf den zweiten Teil des Albums, wieder mit Matt Barlow^^. Auch das Konzert dieses Jahr dürfte mir für alle Ewigkeit in Erinnerung bleiben, danke dass ich die Götter aus der ersten Reihe sehen durfte. So kann ich schlussendlich nur sagen: Band des Jahres! Zumindest was mich betrifft.

+++ Samael

Was die Schweiz doch alles zu bieten hat. Unglaublich. Samael fährt einfach nur ein. Ein Sinn für geniale Tonabfolgen bewiesen sie mit dem Album "Solar Soul", eine der Top 2 Scheiben dieses Jahres. Ihre Musik war ein ständiger Begleiter über s ganze Jahr und konnte mich ein Stück weg ind eine andere Welt entführen. Mit ihren elektronischen Grundlagen türmen sie sich mit einfallsreichen Drums, elektischer Gitarre und tiefem Knurren zu einem riesigen Haufen verfickt affengeiler Scheisse. Ich möcht Samael nicht weiter beschreiben, selbst hören muss man sie. Auch ihr Auftritt am RSF war klar einer der Höhepunkte des Konzertjahres. Da brachte ich einem zehn jährigen das Bangen bei ^^.

+++ Catamenia

Durch Samael hat es mich immer weiter Richtung Black Metal bewegt und hab mich richtig mit vielen Bands auseinandergesetzt, der melodische Black Metal hats mir vor allem angetan, so Catamenia. Die Musik nimmt dich gefangen und umschliesst dich mit wohligem Gefühl. Es ist nicht Musik die dir das Herz zum rasen bringt weil es dich so umhaut, sondern bruhigt die Nerven ohne, dass es ihnen an Härte fehlt. Ganz geile Entdeckung die ich da dieses Jahr gemacht hab.

+++ Volbeat

Wie Samael, hab ich auch Volbeat durch das Rocksound Festival kennengelernt, ich hab von ihnen schon gehört, aber wollte dann im Hinblick aufs RSF auch wissen wie sie rocken. Mir sagt der eigenwillige Stil sehr zu, er zeigt, dass der MEtal noch lange nicht sein ganzes Potential ausgeschöpft hat. Und Volbeat ist sone Band die mal wieder begeistern kann, zu ner Fete Volbeat und Bier, brauchts noch mehr? Ich denke auch zu Partys wos nicht nur Metalheads hat sehr passend, denn n bisschen Rock n Roll beigemischt schadet der Stimmung nie.

+++ Grave Digger

Grave Digger hat sich im Verlauf des Jahres eindeutig zu einer meiner Lieblingsbands gemausert. Mit der neusten Scheibe sind si klar am Zenith angelangt. Die Abstimmung stimmt jetzt perfekt. Und so kann man sich auch ganz neu in alte Songs reinfühlen. Und mittlerweile spielen sie nicht einfach nur Heavy Metal, sondern sie sind Grave Digger, ohne sofort ans Genre zu denken. Ja und, dass sie auch Konzerte spielen können hab ich auch gesehn. Dazu mehr unter dem Konzertbericht^^.

+++ Pure Inc./The Order

CH-Heavy Metal, wie Cool-Headbanger-Heavy-MEtal. Zwei ganz heisse, leider total unbekannte schweizer Eisen, die dir die Luft schnappen. Beide Bands gleicher Sänger und der hat ne saugeile Röhre. Die Metalriffs sind hart und kompromisslos, die Voice mal ganz anders zum HM.Die Musik ist eingängig und regt an zum mitsingen und die Stimmung die sie verbreiten ist edelst. Hört unbedingt mal rein, die Jungs haben mehr verdient als ne Vorband in der Schweiz zu sein.

+++ Annihilator

Manchmal, wenn man alte Sachen wieder hervorkrammt hört man sie mit ganz anderen Ohren als zuvor. bei Annihilator war das so für mich. Das dürfte vielleicht vielen ähnlich gehn, denn den draht uss man hier schon zuerst finden. Aber wenn man ihn hat merkt man schnell das solche Tonabfolgen einmalig sind und absolut brutal genial. Ich weiss nicht, die haben einfach immer den richtigen Riecher, aus nem geilen Metalriff in Kombination mit einem andern geilen Metalriff ein Monster Giga Ultra Metalriff zu basteln.

+++ Sonata Arctica

Jaja, wie jedes Jahr, Sonata Arctica sind eigentlich ständig hörenswert. Dieses Jahr lief mehrheitlich das neue Album UNIA. Was das Album an sich hat kann ich nicht sagen, ich würd es nicht als ihr bestes bezeichnen, es war nicht so wie sonst, wo mir der Mund offen blieb weil ich nicht glaubte richtig zu hören. Es war solider Metal, eingängig, paar gute Ideen, mehr nicht. Trotzdem liefs irgendwie andauernd und ist immer ne gelungene Abwechslung zwischendrin ohne besser oder schlechter zu werden. Und darum gehört Sonata Arctica auch dies Jahr wieder hier rein.

+++ Verjnuarmu

Ebenfalls ne ganz andersweltige Entdeckung war für mich Verjnuarmu. Experimentierfreudigkeit kommt bei mir immer gut an, wenns wirklich abgerundet klngt. Und Verjnuarmu hat das. Wen interessiert hier noch die Texte die wahrscheinlich nur wenige Finnen verstehen. Hier ist Musik Kunst und wer in Köpfen der Kunstbetrachter bleiben will muss eigene Wege gehn. Verjnuarmu bleibt ganz bestimmt in meinem Kopf.

Damit gehört das Metaljahr 2007 der Vergangenheit an, mal schauen was es neus gibt und was altbewährt wieder mag neu entdeckt werden.
