Wow, it's been three years since I joined Last FM. On every birthday, I write a journal entry about my top 50 artists at the time. Now it's time again - to compare my charts from 365 days ago it to my current top 50. The first number is their current position, and the second number is the position in my charts one year ago.

Nine new artists entered the top 50 - again, a decent amount; with more time, the charts tend to become established (see how the top 10 hasn't changed). It's kinda hard for me to listen to a new artist so heavily that it's capable to enter the top 50. Some of the "new" artists, of course, are not new to me; they just got benefited from releasing great albums since October 18th, 2008 - likeRegina Spektor and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
The highest entry though, Emilíana Torrini, was heavily played because she was my favourite act at this year's Glastonbury - I played Me and Armini non-stop.

There are some new-to-me artists though, such as The xx and CéU - owners probably of my two favourite albums of 2009. Even an artist as veteran as Vashti Bunyan managed to enter the top 50 - courtesy of my friend William (speaking of him: Web Sheldon, you're almost on my top 10! When is that EP coming out?).

As for the top tracks, it's interesting to notice how every new Gemma Hayes release always grabs my attention: there are 7 Gemma songs on my top 50 - at least one from each album, one from the 2009 Oliver EP and at least one B-side. You go, girl.

Bem, eu tava rodando a Lastfm e então encontrei um post muito interessante, do andrgsilva, Estatísticas curiosas sobre o gosto dos brasileiros na LAST, e então vi que era de Janeiro de 2008, mais de 1 ano, quase 1 ano e meio atrás, e resolvi postar um de agora, atualizado, de Julho de 2009.

Em 2008 os três artistas nacionais mais ouvidos pelos brasileiros eram, respectivamente: Los Hermanos, Chico Buarque e Legião Urbana.

Apenas 3 artistas nacionais ouvidos pelos brasileiros entre os 50 mais, 1 ano e meio atrás. Agora, com a morte de Michael Jackson, ele está no top 1 disparado, com 6.426 execuções, 499 na frente dos Beatles, segundo colocado.

Caraleo, não mudou nada de 1 ano pra cá ashuauhs. E os brasileiros continuam menosprezando a música nacional. Claro, sem generalizar, eu mesmo sou um dos que não é grande fã de música nacional, gosto muito de Los Hermanos, inclusive tá entre as 10 bandas qe eu mais ouço, e Móveis Coloniais de Acaju, algumas bandas menos conhecidas também fazem um som bom, mas não gosto muito. O top 15 da última semana de artistas nacionais foi:

21 artistas nacionais dentre os 156 mais ouvidos. 1 ano atrás eram 22, uhm, estamos diminuindo... Ano passado nós tinhamos ainda no top 20: Pato Fu, Artista Desconhecido (EAOIEUAOEUOEA grande cantor, sou fãzão dele, faz um show como nenhum outro), Skank, Os Mutantes e Elis Regina. Hoje temos de novos: Fresno, Cazuza, Vanessa da Mata, Charlie Brown Jr., Móveis Coloniais de Acaju e Marisa Monte.

Bandas novas ou sem muita tradição na música popular brasileira estão tomando espaço, como Fresno e o Móveis, enquanto bandas com muita tradição como Skank estão sendo menos ouvidas, parece que os brasileiros estão abrindo suas mentes para novas músicas menos conhecidas.

E também ouvindo mais música, e a quantidade de brasileiros está maior também. Éée, brasileiros dominando a Lastfm.

Mas, bandas que não são muito ouvidas pelos brasileiros tem muita tradição com os gringos, o Sepultura mesmo com 11 milhões, quase 12, de execuções !

Vanessa da Mata compila novas canções e sucessos, tudo escolhido a dedo em seus novos CD e DVD

Com três álbuns lançados, Vanessa da Mata diz que foi difícil escolher quais canções entrariam em seu primeiro trabalho ao vivo, um CD e um DVD, lançados esta semana pela Sony, em parceria com o canal por assinatura Multishow. O show foi gravado no dia 27 de novembro do ano passado em Paraty, no litoral fluminense, e foi, segundo Vanessa, bem espontâneo. “O povo foi chegando. Eram pessoas simples, o pipoqueiro, o vendedor de algodão doce, os turistas, os moradores...” A gravação será reprisada hoje no Multishow, às 21h.

“Não se trata de um resumo da minha carreira. Mas as principais canções estão lá”, diz ela. Além das conhecidas Ainda Bem, Não Me Deixe Só, Ai, ai, ai e Boa Sorte/Good Luck (com Ben Harper), os extras do DVD trazem também as músicas Um Dia, Um Adeus, de Guilherme Arantes, As Rosas Não Falam, de Cartola, e Acode, de autoria própria, composta há 10 anos. “Acode é praticamente da minha primeira leva de composições. Acho que as músicas ficam esperando o momento certo de serem lançadas. Foi assim também com Boa Sorte / Good Luck.”

Cuidadosa com cada detalhe da produção, Vanessa se diz perfeccionista. “Se você não participa do processo, o resultado das coisas não refletem quem você é”, opina. Praticamente tudo no DVD passou pelo crivo da cantora. Desde a escolha do repertório, do local, do cenário (com flores e borboletas), do figurino (um dos vestidos foi ela quem desenhou) até o texto de divulgação do trabalho entregue para a imprensa, assinado por ela.

“Viajei pela América Latina e comprei alguns tecidos mais exóticos e fiz a roupa”, diz, referindo-se ao vestido preto da capa do disco. “Eu sou uma vovó. Adoro artesanato e costurar. Mas não pretendo lançar nenhuma grife, não.”

No show, Vanessa contou com a participação dos jamaicanos Sly Dunbar e Robbie Shakespeare. “A batida deles é diferente. Eles usam pouco os pratos da bateria. Foi uma honra tê-los no disco.” A dupla participa do álbum na canção Vermelho.

Há ainda no DVD cenas dos bastidores da turnê que a cantora fez pela Europa. “Lá eu pude fazer algo que há muito tempo eu não conseguia fazer no Brasil: sentar em um café, observar as pessoas e compor. Teve um dia que eu andei por entre as pessoas que compravam os ingressos para o meu show e ninguém me reconheceu. É uma sensação boa de estar recomeçando”, diz a cantora.

Mas ela reconhece que chega a ter essa sensação no Brasil. Recentemente, ela pegou um táxi e o motorista, sem a reconhecer, colocou um disco seu para tocar. “Comecei a perguntar para ele ‘dessa’ cantora, o que ele achava ‘dela’. Quando eu falei mal, ele me defendeu. Adorei. Depois eu disse que era eu e ele pediu um autógrafo.”

Nessas de observar as pessoas, Vanessa revela que adora navegar pelo YouTube vendo os vídeos que o público faz de seu show. “Foi aí que eu percebi que já estava mais do que na hora de fazer um DVD”, diz. “Tem até vídeo de minhas músicas como trilha sonora de declarações de amor.”

Amiga do músico Marcelo Camelo, Vanessa fala ainda que existem planos de compor com ele. “Até o momento, ainda não nos reunimos para escrever nada. Não sei o que pode sair daí. Mas existe essa ideia.”

O DVD termina com Ai, ai, ai. E os versos O que a gente precisa / É tomar um banho de chuva / Um banho de chuva da música, coincidiram com uma oportuna garoa que caiu na cidade naquela hora. “Ficou lindo as pessoas abrindo suas sombrinhas e cantando junto. Até nisso Deus ajudou.”
