It's still unmistakably Famine, of course, but no, it does not sound exactly like Peste Noire. But even the Peste Noire of 2009 sounds quite different from the Peste Noire of 2007 or 2006 or any time before or in between... Anyhow, the atmosphere of this project is a bit different from P.N. -- I doubt he'd ever use electronic beats or whatever in that band.

Valfunde sounded nothing like the Peste Noire of 2007. Famine wanted to go in a new direction, so he made Valfunde. He scrapped the idea of a side band after the split with Amesoeurs, and incorporated all the Valfunde ideas into the new Peste Noire album

What I mean is that I think Valfunde was a very short-lived idea in Famine's mind, and that he didn't see the need in continuing this project after this release. Why he founded it in the first place is anybody's guess. Bottom line: there will very likely be no further releases of Valfunde. Oh, and about Ballade and Valfunde's similarity: yes, the production helps, but it's the entire mood of the two that strikes me as similar. I actually listened to Valfunde after Ballade (because I didn't get hold of the split until recently), but the first thing that sprung to mind was how it sounded exactly like the direction PN would take about 18 months later.

What I mean is that Famine wrote all PN tracks but one so he's responsible for all changes/moods/styles/concepts in PN. PN is his band and the other (session) members have nothing to do with it. He just released two songs under the Valfunde monicker but it could have been under the PN monicker. PN/Valfunde are one project for me. The "Valfunde" tracks sound like "Ballade" because Famine produced them himself on his own material while "FF" and "La sanie" were produced in Rosenkrantz studio.
