O Unleashed foi pioneiro da cena death metal sueca desde o começo dos anos 90, com diversos lançamentos demonstrando um estilo ensurdecedor e rápido via de regra que permaneceu quase totalmente inalterado, mas sempre potente. O grupo consiste do baixista/vocalista Johnny Hedlung, dos guitarristas Tomas e Frederik, e do baterista Anders; eles estrearam em 1991 com “Where No Life Dwells”, seguido por “Shadows in the Deep”, de 1992, “Across The Open Sea”, de 1993, o bootleg “oficial” “Live In Vienna”, de 1994, “Victory”, de 1995 — possivelmente seu melhor álbum —, outro ábum ao vivo, “Eastern Blood”, e o “Warrior”, de 1997.

I somehow have a problem enjoying this band because the viking theme just seems so odd in in conjunction with the typical Death Metal sound, good band nevertheless. They will probably need some time to grow on me.
