How varied is your music taste?
Mai 9 2010, 22h49 por Annuskainen
To do this yourself, use your top 20 artists, and look at the eight highest artists on their similar artists. If any of them repeat, do not count the second entry and every entry after that. If any similar artists are also in your top 20, do not count them either. If any entries are the same artist but with a different name, don't include this similar artist, pick the next one down. For example, in Michael Jackson's similar artists both 'The Jackson 5' and 'The Jacksons' are included, so you would ignore the 'The Jacksons' and pick the artist below them in the similar artist list. It sounds complicated, but it's easy once you get started. Once you have your list, count up every first entry of an artist. Your final socre will be out of 160, so the highest score you can get is 160, which indicates extreme variety. If you want, you can just do it for the top 10, in which case a score of 80 represents extreme variety.

Franz Ferdinand
Placebo
Radiohead
The Killers
Kasabian
30 Seconds to Mars

How Varied is Your Music Taste?
Fev 27 2010, 12h44 por Joy_of_life
First, make a list of your top-20 artists overall. Then, for each of these artists, add the 8 most similar artists to your list. Delete any duplicates, count up the number of entries on your list and this will give you some idea of how eclectic your listening habits are. A score of 9 represents an extremely unvaried musical taste while a 160 represents an extremely varied one.

2) The Strokes
3) Kaiser Chiefs

Society is a Hole
Ago 14 2006, 0h41 por Pauli_
Well, again it's been a while. It seems as every time I post something to my journal, it will take longer for my next post. Not that I didn't like writing here, it's just that I don't have much to say. Have run short of all my sagacity. :P
But I've been reading a lot of journal posts by others and leaving comments whenever I feel like it. My God, surveys have become popular! Some of them are OK, I guess, but I don't like the mainstream or emo tests. Also I find the "currentfavsong" surveys a bit pointless. Or well at least I can't name just one song from some artist to be my current favorite. Maybe an album I could, but that also changes so fast, that there's no point. Another more unpleasant thing I've realized, is that also here in last.fm, as in real life, there are a lot of angry people who are not willing to compare ideas and theories. They have their opinion, if you disagree it's a big fuck you, and that's it. Oh, if just all the people in the world would think that 'what I am and what I have'… -
Placebo live!
Abr 18 2006, 19h03 por Pauli_
Yeap, that's right, it's finally true! This is something I've been dreaming for years, and now all my dreams are turning to reality! Ok, well not all my dreams, but at least this one.
But yes, I'm really gonna see Placebo live! The whole concept of actually seeing Placebo live; it's just unimaginable. Sure I've seen many of their gigs on videos, but I'm still finding it hard to even approach my thoughts to the fact. The fact that I'm gonna see Placebo live! Ok, now I'm repeating myself.
So, the gig I'm going to is the one in Caen at Zenith on 10th of June. And Caen is in France if some of you didn't know. I love France. I really do. And yeah, I love Placebo. And I'm gonna see them live. In France. Placebo. live.
So what else...? Well lately I've been listening mostly to Fiona Apple, Sarah Blasko, Tegan & Sara, Stereo Total, both of the Trainspotting soundtracks, Trash Palace and right now I'm listening to Primal Scream. Primal Scream's good, espceially the album Vanishing Point.

Track-Tagged Electroclash Station
Set 22 2005, 14h25 por IanAR
My track-tagged Electroclash station http://static.last.fm/matt/tinyradio.gif has just come on-stream. To give an idea of what to expect, from it, the first ten track played were:
Frisco Bay
Electricity
Hand to Phone (Cordless mix)
Poney Part 1
Disgraceland
La La Land
Emerge - (Adult Mix)
Playgirl
Frank Sinatra
Olio
My Electroclash selection centres around the dancey/sexually-infused electro-disco/punk revival fusion area, of the genre/movement. Others might include more housey and/or Nu Wave (New Wave revival) Electroclash tracks. For a survey of the sub-genres associated with Electroclash see euRoClAsh.Com.
The tracks played, above, were from the initially featured artists: ADULT., Chicks On Speed, Dave Clarke, Electronicat, Erlend Øye, Fischerspooner, Goldfrapp, Green Velvet, Jolly Music, Ladytron, Le Tigre, Miss Kittin & The Hacker, Peaches, Plastique de Rêve, Sonavac, The Rapture, The Thought Criminals, Trash Palace and Vitalic.
