My sixth year with Last.fm has come to an end. It's been a long time and a lot has changed since then.
Back then I was a highschooler with too much free time on my hands. I've always loved numbers and stats, so Last.fm was an amazing thing for me because it connected those to something else I enjoyed - music. I would also waste a lot of time gathering extra stats by hand and then writing an article about it. It made me angry when I lost scrobbles due to technical problems.
This changed. I simply don't care anymore. I still tag all my tracks by hand because no software can do that properly, but I can't be assed to do the stats thing. It's too time consuming and it's not interesting anymore to do the same over and over again.
When I was writing two of these yearly summaries last year (because I kept postponing the previous one for a whole year), it even felt really annoying to me.
So I was thinking if it's worth it to write an article this year. …
