For my first few years as an ear with feet, I thought Tori was singing "Time is jealous and wasn't born in your backyard." The lyrics are incredible, the flavors of the vocals and piano are at least as devastating; but I think that tiny sliver of humor in my associations with the song enable me not to fall ~entirely~ apart when it comes up in the shuffle.
"maybe i'm just the horizon you run to when she has left. you and me here alone on the floor, you're counting my feathers as the bells toll..." she weaves such vulnerability into this song with pictures made of words. encapsulates this passionate emotion so heartbreakingly beautifully.. one of my absolute favorites.
