Although they are both chart-topping, award-winning, platinum-selling bands, double headliners My Chemical Romance and blink-182 were actually quite incongruent to see back to back. Being younger, or perhaps just losing the coin toss, MCR played first. And, boy howdy, these New Jersey kids can certainly play.

MCR nailed all their big riffs, breakdowns and double-times perfectly, ripping through their alt-rock tinged by hardcore, melodic death metal, synth pop and power ballads with all the professionalism of a surgical team. Doing his part, fire-haired lead singer Gerard Way baited the arena into mosh pits, sing-alongs and hand waves…

    Angels & Airwaves

  • Angels & Airwaves: An evolution of rock

    Ago 2 2009, 9h57 por Nachiro

When I discovered Angels & Airwaves more than a year ago, I never thought how much would like to me. I listened The Adventure and... love at first sight!
Now i have their two albums and I know that a third is on the way. No doubt that will be mine too :)

I read many critics against this band ,but I think to know the reason.
The frontman Tom DeLonge, was before on bands like blink-182 or Box Car Racer that has a sound on it, but now with AVA the sound is very different... Now I understand the deception of the followers of Tom when they listen to their new work...
I said "I understand" because i suffered this with another band that liked to me some years ago Dover. Their albums always sounds like but the last one... (no comment).
Resuming on both cases, not only the sound has changed, in addition another class of listeners changed too.

Anyway, I support Tom to create this magnificient music, because from my point of view, he had re-invented the style that we used to listen. …
  • REVIEW: Angels & Airwaves - I-Empire (2007)

    Jul 21 2008, 22h45 por misa-kun

    Using the iTunes system.
    ***** (5*) = Fantastic
    **** (4*) = Good
    *** (3*) = Average, nothing special
    ** (2*) = Bad
    * (1*) = Terrible song, rarely used

With the "blink-182 have split, Tom DeLonge is the one to blame" wave more or less fading away, I thought it was a good time to review the second Angels & Airwaves album I-Empire that hit stores back almost a year ago, in November 2007.

Before actually playing anything off this album the listener will most likely remember the huge hype Angels & Airwaves's first album - We Don't Need to Whisper (2006) got prior to its release and the not-so-positive feedback it received after that. According to Tom DeLonge himself it was "the greatest music in some 30 years", how would he and his band follow up with their second album I-Empire?

Months before it being officially released the band's frontman gave several interviews in which he shared his idea for the second album - according to his own words this album and the first - WDNTW were…
  • Another opinion about the overall top-50's..

    Mai 12 2008, 22h16 por mannis05

In response to baltech22's highly discussed journal about the last.fm top-50 chart, i was inspired to express my opinions about the overall chart..

Now notice that since my musical taste is basically pop/rock/alternative, the opinions i'll give here would be completely different than baltech22's. Although i respect his opinions, i think that personal attacks of any kind (sex status, religious believes etc.) is totally unappropriate, and shows only how low one could sink..

Last.fm's top-50 list (as baltech22's order, just in opposite direction). I'll also mention if i have any records of the artists listed.

    50. Iron Maiden - I havent really heard anything of their music, so i cant say. Old school hard rock isn't really my favorite genre.
    49. Jack Johnson (2 cd's) - Great music, its relaxing, soft and acoustic in a superb combo. Check out Damien Rice and the norwegian guitarist Thomas Dybdahl for similar artists.
    48. Queens of the Stone Age - Havent heard alot from this band either unfortunately. …
  • +44 - WHEN YOUR HEART STOPS BEATING.

    Dez 31 2006, 8h57 por ellycopter

From the ashes of Blink 182 comes +44 and When Your Heart Stops Beating, an album bursting with newfound maturity, musical integrity and a slight hint of the past.

Tears were shed and hearts were broken in early 2005 when legendary pop-punk band Blink 182 called it quits after more than a decade of masturbation, fucking dogs in the arse and debating the existence of aliens. Much like the aftermath of the split of At the Drive-In, two bands were formed from the ashes – Tom DeLonge's new project Angels & Airwaves and +44, featuring Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker.

After the severe disappointment that was AVA's We Don't Need to Whisper (and total outrage at comparisons of this train wreck of an album to Pink Floyd – reviewers, what were you thinking?!), +44's work was approached with hesitation and apprehension. However, having listened through When Your Heart Stops Beating a few times, all traces of doubt have faded away – this is pop-rock at its absolute finest.

  • Everything in Transit

    So...

Theresa made me a copy of Everything in Transit

I was very skeptical at first because I'm a die hard Something Corporate fan and I was a bit saddened when I heard Andrew McMahon and Something Corporate had decided to take a long deserved break from touring. When I first found out about this was on Fuse this past summer. I knew
Andrew McMahon had been planning on a solo project because he had written songs not like Something Corporate's previous songs...

Don't get me wrong. I've listened to Jack's Mannequin tracks before.

Kill the Messenger was performed on Fuse this past summer on some concert series for Mountain Dew. But also, the song was included on the Drive-Thru Records/Pure Volume Compilation (Disc 2) (which by the way, the two discs have about 25+ songs, AND a crapload of MP3 files on the discs themselves from up and coming bands you would LOVE to check out.

But anyway. and Of course, I heard The Mixed Tape.
