  • The Zombies in Breda

    Dez 1 2009, 11h10 por Kate234

Sunday, 29 November 2009. We got up at four in the morning and drove up to Holland, 750 kilometers. Just to see The Zombies, which means Colin and Rod and their band.
It was worth every single kilometer. They were absolutely amazing. Colin is 64 years old and he still sounds sooo good, I hardly have words. His voice is absolutely unique. And Rod is one hell of a pianist. He's also the one who talked the most, Colin didn't say a lot but if he said something I always had to laugh cause he spoke about their song "I love you" which was a hit for another band in the USA and Colin's face was priceless when he said "we were very happy for them, really very happy FOR THEM!"
They played lots of Zombies-songs, like TocarThe Way I Feel Inside, Tell Her No and of course their little hits TocarTime of the Season and TocarShe's Not There, beside that they played some of their solo things, like TocarOld and Wise, which Colin sung with The Alan Parsons Project, or TocarHold Your Head Up by Rods later band Argent. They played about two hours all in all, two of the greatest hours I ever had in my whole life.
Beside that they are two very nice people, I got to talk to them after the concert and it was great, I'd like to say a big THANK YOU, especially to Rod, who is really the nicest musician I've ever met. And if he should read that (I don't think he will but who knows?): Thanks a lot for what you did for me, I promise I won't blackmail you:)
We spent the night in the hotel and drove back home the next day. It was a really long way and it was exhausting but it was absolutely worth it. This gig is surely in my Top3.

So yeah, go and see them if you can. You won't regret it. They are great, I will never ever understand why they had no success. They are so much better than many many others who sold tons of records back then but well...
I was a big fan before, now I think I'm a super-fan:) And I'd drive such a long way any time again!!!

This journal post does not contain any reviews!

Apologies for it appearing in the reviews section of these gigs but I had no idea that last.fm is set up to do that simply because I linked to each gig from this journal post. This post is for my own reference really and it's taken too long to write it out for me to be bothered to take it down or remove the links.
