I agree :<, it's very bad. I've been trying to reach Maurissa Tancharoen (Jed Whedon's wife) through Twitter and ask her to ask Jed to inform us loyal fans what ever happened to the band but I'm still out of luck. No reply from her.
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news - but they are dead. Jed Whedon, the person responsible for the songwriting in the band is working as a writer for his brother's, Joss Whedon's, newest production, Dollhouse. Jed Whedon's Wikipedia article also notes that Southland is not active anymore.
If you want to hear more from Jed Whedon, you should watch Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long-Blog, which is another production of Joss Whedon. It's a hilarious musical and Jed Whedon is responsible for the soundtrack.
They haven't given an official announcement regarding the band - of course they might get back together some time. But for now they are on an unannounced indefinite hiatus. Which is a pity since The Southland is pretty much the best thing that has happened to music IMO.
why don't more people love this band? I bought the album after hearing them on Scrubs. Obviously Shadow is a great song, but I also adore the rest of the album.. Miles, Aftermath and Debris are probably my faves on the album. Have they ever come to the UK?
