What I mean is, I feel like maybe Moz intended for it to "seem like" he was saying "I am the sun and the air" until you heard the following lyrics, "of a shyness that is criminally vulgar/of nothing in particular"... At which point you, the listener, would think, "Ohhhh..." :)

It was this "like" totally vague, meaningless quasi-psychedelic and "totally 80's" lyric (funny, right? I Am THE SUUUUN AND THE AIIIIIR) but then he turns it around entirely with the following flattened line (......of nothing in particular). Just what I've kind of assumed over the years, anyway... It snaps you from that faux-mystical, breezy and atmospheric neo-psych cheesery back into depressive, banal reality pretty effectively if that were indeed the intended approach...
