When it's good, it's incredible. Some beautiful atmospheres.

I remember how alien, difficult, and almost unsettling this album used to be to me. But those are the best, because the songs never tire out, and the more you dive into it, the more the album slowly starts to reveal itself.

Love this album. I remember very strongly being lost in a magical world of ... essay writing for uni (yay!?) and listening to this and Machina II (definitely yay!!)

Poor mixing and uneven songs. Some really good stuff though.

It was 3 bucks at my local record store. Now at the time I was quite hungry, I had 2 options: spend the 5 bucks in my pocket on something nice to eat, or buy this... I chose food. Later, I discovered I had another 5 bucks in my pocket and bought this. win win.

At the time of its release Machina meant the loss of alternative rock over nu metal, of course talking in a mainstrem sense. Highlights: "Stand Inside Your Love", "Heavy Metal Machine" & "Glass and the Ghost Children".

This might be my favorite Pumpkins album. Like Ricro said, it is indeed magical... and it just brings me to a wonderful state of mind whenever I listen to it.

I guess Machina was their most magical album ... it´s as good as they got - the perfect sound for my ears ... I dont want to think about afterwards ... I just want to cherish this masterpiece

The only album that is more underrated than this one is Machina II.

Having a Machina day today. Also agree about the albums poor sound quality... first thing that turned me off about it... especially compared to the golden age mixing/mastering of SD. But seeing past that, this is quite an overlooked gem in the Pumpkins' work... a great farewell to the band and the cliches of the "grunge" era.

Does anyone else absolutely love this album? I don't understand all of the hate it always gets. It has so many great songs, some of which are my favorites from The Smashing Pumpkins.

The song's aren't bad but the mastering is awful! I can't help but feel the reason this album is regarded the way it is solely because of the way it sounds, it's so compressed, flat and lifeless + the is loads of clipping! In songs such as Raindrops most of the track is almost inaudible!
