Here's something that hasn't been considered much apart from among a select few! Has anyone else considered the possibility of no wave living on? Have they realised, "hey there, it does exist!"? For it does, and it's past due time to air this idea somewhat.

Thusly, I created a group for avid listeners of dissonace, atonality, unbridled oppugnancy to the norm and the mainstream, and the fans of plain innovation in modern rock. Here's the rest of the description:

Background
In 1975, punk moved over from New York to the United Kingdom in which music companies eventually skewed its ethos of DIY culture, experimentalism and rebellion, swiping it all from the people behind its growth, to vomit it out as "new wave". This new brand of pop music mercilessly had ruined what the New Yorkers had set out to do with sound, and a backlash had to come.

Indeed it did. By the late seventies, the satirically-named "no wave" scene was thriving in underground New York. Related groups including DNA, James Chance & the Contortions, Theoretical Girls, Mars, Teenage Jesus & the Jerks and so on, it stuck to the original punk ethos mentioned, but took it to levels that could no longer be de-loused of innovation, its sex, its drugs, its youth making music of their own, on their own, among their own.

The scene was characterised by no particular sound, though artists usually drew from punk, funk, jazz, blues and the avant garde, creating sounds that were confrontational, drilling in atonal melodies and repetetive rhythms to all that wished hear it. The movement was tied with performance art, accompanied by another underground scene, No Wave Cinema, with several faces of the scene eventually achieving high status in innovative modern music, such as Glenn Branca, Ikue Mori, Sonic Youth and Rhys Chatham.
No wave had pretty much burnt out by the early eighties with music-hunters of today still left begging for more of it, and the sound had been immortalised on record, influencing various post-hardcore, industrial and noise (rock) groups to come.

Despite its short lifespan, those who enjoyed it while it lasted remained thoroughly satisfied that this time around, they had managed to create something of their own that they had managed to keep.

But when all this dissonance packed its bags and left the city, where did it go?
It lives on in now wave! Bands of today continue to pump out modern no wave sounds in a saturated music market. Enhanced by all that has occured between the eighties and the present day, now wave thrives- you just have to find it, and enjoy its many wonderful sounds.
