Jun 10 2009, 12h31 por BlackCoffeeDuckNick Cave - The Exhibition is now on in Perth at the Western Australia Museum. The website here: http://www.museum.wa.gov.au/exhibitions/nickcave/
and I'm going to write a journal about it so I remember how unbelievable it is/was and if anybody reading this can go or if you can't well you can read my ranting and raving here. Thanks for reading this too, I'll say that first before you read it all, well if you get though it all or not thanks anyway for looking.
If you don't know the W.A. Museum there is a space for temporary exhibitions downstairs which is painted all black not just for this show but works so well. I go in there and stare at the walls some times even if the exhibitions are totally shity but enough about me.
When you are walking into this exhibition you hear it before you see it because of all the songs playing but all at the same time in some kind-of fucked-up, Nick Cave mash-up. What you see first is a huge photo of him kind-off like on the poster but standing up. …

“I think it’s really interesting, The Clash sings about civil war, and these kids were living it...” – Nathalian (Associate of Fucked Up) Talking about the Starjets from Belfast.
“First Wave Northern Ireland Punk” – I’m not quite sure of any specifics or dates but the earliest year in this comp is 1975 and the latest is 1985. Many of these songs and artists are fairly obscure and totally underrated, others are just so-so (I culled some really dodgy ones like The Faders, Cramp, The Idiots, Terri & the Terrors (which features Bono, and I hate U2). When comparing F.W.N.I.P. to the bands and scenes in London, New York, LA, etc – Northern Ireland was just as active as they were. Sure there was only one decent punk label (Good Vibrations in Derry) but the bands that came out of that first wave scene proved that they were just as good, if not better (even bands from Dublin involved themselves with the Northern scene. …

Try it out!
So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)

Love Missile F1-11 : Sigue Sigue Sputnik (kicking things off with a techno/rock bang!)
Let's Roll : Fly My Pretties (ah, if only I was that motivated first thing when I get up. Maybe I should try listening to this song first thing and see if it helps)
First Day At School:
Ciao Mama : Jovanotti (hee! that's kind of cute)
Sitting, Waiting, Wishing : Jack Johnson (that doesn't sound good)
Turn It Around : Fly My Pretties (not exactly a rockin' party. The FMP version is pretty mellow. The Black Seeds version would be slightly better, but still not really a party song)
Falling In Love:
