O The Nightwatchman, é o primeiro trabalho solo de Tom Morello, talvez possa decepcionar os seus fãs mais fieis devido a versão do albúm ser acústica e somente ele toca e canta, mas mesmo assim, há muito a se descobrir neste novo albúm o “Tom cantor”, os fãs encontrarão uma voz grave e ao mesmo tempo revolucionária e estigante, para aqueles que possam sentir falta de outros instrumentos no albúm, detalhe para “The Road I Must Travel”… , aonde pode se encontrar uma bateria de fundo a tocar harmoniosamente com o violão mas esta é exceção; o interessante, de ouvir o novo som acústico de Tom Morello, é a sua fusão musical, ele é um exelente guitarrista, capaz de fazer o agudo e o grave o solo e a base numa mesma música; agora neste novo som acústico ele arrebenta, mas note ao ouvir o som, aos paladares mais apurados da música e o público do Jazz, com certeza vai ter a sensibilidade de notar o Blues; Para Tom as possiblidades são inesgotáveis e ele prova isso ao buscar lá no fundo de sua raízes esta influência linda e melódica que sempre expôs a perseguição negra como ressalta Hobsbawm, na história social do Jazz; agora ele junta o útil ao agradável pois pode passar através do Blues seus protestos políticos, detalhe para “One man revolution”, é exelente o som, é claro que modernizado, mas lembra muito Robert Leroy Johnson; o “Robert Johnson”; Morello o trás de volta para a nossa era

I woudln't say that Morello was the driving force for RATM at all. I am a massive fan of Rage and this but you cant just put down the success to one person as they all fit perfectly together.
