This is one of the first songs I ever heard by the Mountain Goats. When I first heart this song, I thought, "I don't think I can bear to listen to John Darnielle's songs. They tear right through to the heart of things and that is very hard to hear sometimes." The line that always kills me is "Half eaten gallons of ice cream in the freezer"

This song never got to me until I found out what is about... a teenage John ditching classes to be with this girl that made him feel amazing - like an escape from his step-father and everything else that was so shitty about his life. Now it gets me everytime.
