"Whether it’s jazz or punk or anything else, you have to fight against the purists who want to narrow the definition. That’s what kills music because it stifles it to death." a quote by the man himself. now tell me about how he would be rolling in his grave again.
as if anybody gives a fuck about whether this is punk or not, I'm sure the band don't care, I'm sure strummer wouldn't have cared and I don't care about it either. just take it or leave it, stop the needless labelling.
jeez, it's so annoying when people have petty arguments about what stupid subgenre something belongs to (is is death metal, pop-punk, grunge core or dubstep- who the hell cares??!) If you like it, listen to it, if you hate it, don't listen to it. Simple as. In my opinion this song's awesome, thank you Skate 2 for in introducing me to such amazingness :D
Who can you not consider this Punk. This is very Punk. Folk Punk at times, but still Punk.
And to the guy who said people used to call Avril punk, the only people that ever called her Punk were just a bunch of lame Posers, Avril is about as Poppy as you can get.
And to Oldbean, I bet Joe Strummer would love these guys, they sound like a Punk version of Bruce Springsteen, and Joe was friends with Bruce Springsteen.
Punk music has changed, evey type of music does. It's not the punk that qualifies as what Strummer would've made. Hell, we should all stop putting names on the music styles. Things just change so bad, you can't change that man.
