The Dreaming is a rock band in the Hollywood area founded in 2002 by Christopher Hall, former lead singer of the band Stabbing Westward.
Hall is the lead vocalist for the band. Jinxx and Carlton Bost play guitar, Brent Ashley plays bass, and Johnny Haro (one-time drummer for Star 69 and The Brian Jonestown Massacre) plays drums. They frequently play shows at venues such as The Roxy Theatre and Whisky A Go-Go. Their full-length debut album Etched in Blood is available in select stores such as Hot Topic,Best Buy, and more. Their name comes from the comic book series by the same name

Discography

The band has released four EPs. In a May 2004 interview, frontman Chris Hall stated that the first has sold over 7500 copies internationally. All together the band has sold close to 30,000 copies.
The first of the four EPs was originally sold in the limited quantity of 500 as a 4 track silver-pressed and self-released (no label) disc. It was given out at shows and sold to lucky fans through the band’s old website (www.thedreamingonline.com).
The first hard-copied EP of the 4 is out of print, and the band has no intention of manufacturing any more. The only hard-copy LP available is the full-length album Etched in Blood.
When it was first released, the Etched in Blood album hard copy could be purchased directly from the band through their website [1], although as of June 1, 2008, this option was no longer available. The hard copy of the album can now be purchased from the band at their concerts, or in stores after the June 24, 2008 release date. The Etched in Blood album is also available for download on iTunes, along with the Dreamo Acoustic EP album.

I wish Stabbing Westward were still around. I like The Dreaming, but I really miss the 90s industrial element SW did oh-so-damn-well.

The first EP and soon thereafter was amazing work, a continuation of what Chris did with Stabbing Westward without completely aping their style; "Let It Burn" in particular was truly a standout. Their change in sound to a more streamlined alternative/emo sound, while still decent, is nowhere near the same quality to me.

I can say I've gotten used to The Dreaming. I was really disappointed about them at first but they're not THAT bad...but they still tend to give off that (dare I say it? D:)... emo vibe to me!! ugh! The lyrics. Yes, they're still Chris' words but somehow The Dreaming sounds whiny and empty. I could actually relate to Stabbing Westward!! And honestly, nothing they've released has excited me. I just can't love them as much as I love Stabbing Westward!! D: I'm not entirely hating on them, but I know they can do better than this!!! >-< (Btw, is Carlton still with Deadsy?? Deadsy had so much more to give than The Dreaming!!) :'(

The Dreaming's early stuff was good...the full length album is shit. Please reform Stabbing Westward Chris, this project is shit with emo haircuts.

'Whole' is amazing... maybe because it is so Stab-y... I think this band is a waste of the talent of the individual members... they should stop caring so much about what they look like and get over the emo BS

I was a Stabbing Westward fan, and I saw them play a half dozen times. Strong live band, they were. Chris Hall had good stage presence, and when I saw them play in NYC with Rust, Andy told the losers from Rust to get off of the stage because they were insulting the fans and the city. Yeah , Stabbing Westward was very good. The Dreaming, however, is trash. I wish I felt better about them, but I just don't. My taste has changed since then, but I don't think I would ever think this is good.
