This songs grabs your attention, and takes you through the most intense 12 minutes of your life. No, it does not get old; but you do. Every single time it hypnotizes you. When you listen to it, you feel it's hold, tight and severe. But when it ends, you feel empty, for the moment has passed, and the memory of it is only a whisper compared to the roaring experience. I wonder if Coppola had this in mind before he shot the opening scenes to Apocalypse Now or was it just a piece of music that fits like a glove. I only have to hear the song and that opening scene with the helicopters and the napalm plays in my head. Over 40 years old and still captivating.
