I wasn't going to do a holiday mix this year because I didn't think I'd have enough new content, then BAM I was suddenly hit with a sleighful of relevant music. Or a donkey or something, if you're into the religious part of everyone's favourite re-purposed pagan festival more so than the commercial part. I'm not particularly into either of them anymore, but hey, I can always appreciate some catchy music.

Also presents.

Highlights this year are courtesy of Gruff Rhys (I held back on including "Slashed Wrists This Christmas" because even I'm not quite that cynical), The Boy Least Likely To (as usual), some random Scottish people, and Rob Crow in the guise of Goblin Cock. If you've ever wanted to hear a Black Sabbath song in the tune of a Christmas classic then this is the mix for you! If you hadn't even considered such a magical thing, well, you might as well download it anyway because it's awesome.

· segun mi .txt, este año escuche 325 discos de 2010. de algunos ni me acuerdo, bastantes me gustaron, un par me decepcionaron y unos pocos afortunados (?) lograron que los pasara a mi celular para darles sin parar en mis viajes en tren/bondi.
en orden de aparicion:

Los Campesinos! - Romance Is Boring
ja, ya me habia olvidado de este disco! no me gusto tanto al principio pero termine tomandole el gustito. esta genial que tenga muchos tracks, pero un par podrian haber quedado afuera. de todas formas se me pasa volando. en vivo la deben romper.
soundtrack de: navidad/el verano pasado, matando tiempo en esas horas interminables cuando se cortaba la luz.

oh dios, lo que sufrimos hasta que salio! 3 años es demasiado tiempo. si bien no me engancho tan rapido como los anteriores, es exactamente lo que esperaba: un resumen de la banda. hay cosas nuevas, cosas viejas, cosas recicladas, cosas howlescas, y cosas rock n rollnennenennene.

Mix(es) of the Month - April 2010

Although April has been uncharacteristically devoid of showers (especially for Windsor), it has been packed full of musical goodness. So packed, in fact, that I elected to make two mixes rather than one! I was concerned that there would be so much spillover from this month that I would either have to ignore most of these tracks, or most of the good stuff that I know is coming in May, and this was my solution.

Non-musical matters have been pretty good this month as well. There was a fun trip to Cleveland, documented here, some slightly less (but still rather) fun events in Windsor, and the end of semester crunch wasn't as bad as I had anticipated due to some pretty heavy advance preparation. Things have been pretty relaxed since classes finished, though I am starting a part-time assessment job next week and I should probably get around to more thesis work some time this decade.

Oh, and my cat had a tapeworm. I think it's gone now. I hope.
