Biografia

Your Majesty got better with age I'd have to say but I don't really listen to it that often. I just hated the abrupt shift in sound plus I was just a young lad when it came out who didn't like change :(

Lol at Jimmy Eat World being 'shitty' and not changing their sound.JEW had a nice, natural progression from their roots and these guys changed a lot in one album.

I was initially disappointed with Your Majesty, seeing as how awesome and unique Design of a Nervous Breakdown was (though I immediately fell in love with Sweet Marie). After many years later, I've learned to appreciate it on it's own merit.

Whoa man, I couldn't disagree with y'all more about Your Majesty -- that album is superb. It is, agreed, totally different from Designing a Nervous Breakdown, and initially I too was thrown for a loop. But unlike a lot of shitty bands (Jimmy Eat World or The Decemberists or you name it) that just retread the same crap from one album to the next, this is a band that wanted to keep growing -- and they did. Right from the opening drum line, Your Majesty is a superb rock-and-roll album that is tightly orchestrated, and their shows during that era were killer, too. For me, the difference was that I had to come to the album from a different mood. If you're in the mood for Designing, then no doubt YM ain't gonna cut it. But next time you're in the mood for some faintly retro-tinged rock (think, perhaps, The Strokes or The White Stripes, though I don't love those bands), give Your Majesty another chance. I think it's a crying shame they didn't hold it together long enough for a 3rd album.

Designing A Nervous Breakdown is their best, they lost everything that made them 'emo' and good with Your Majesty [2] You couldn't imagine how upset I was when Your Majesty came out cause I was so hyped on Designed and I then I play YM and I was like "what the fuck!? Are you fucking kidding me!" I got over it after a few years and it's aight but shit I was actually UPSET when that album came out, I guess I feel the same way today about Zoo by Ceremony, god that album sucks.

Does anyone else see Designing A Nervous Breakdown as a concept album? I don't think they intended it to be and the lyrics probably don't match up that well between the songs, but I can't help but listen to it like all the songs are about the same subject.

Unlike a lot of emo music (yep, I said it), Your Majesty has aged so well (even the album artwork). Perhaps that because it does not sound much like emo at all...
