The soundtrack album will be available for digital and physical purchase nationally on August 25, 2009. "Too Many Women", which also appears on Sage's critically acclaimed album "Public Record", was hand-picked by director Kevin Tancharoen, and remixed by Damon Elliot specifically for the movie.

Being involved in this project carries special meaning for Sage, who reveals: "When I saw 'Fame' as a kid, the characters resonated with me so much...By the time the TV series came out I'd already decided I wanted to grow up to be a combination of Leroy, Coco and Bruno - who definitely inspired me to get my first synthesizer!"

As a teenager, Sage's passion for dance ultimately carried her to the renowned School of American Ballet (located directly across the street from the performing arts high school upon which "Fame" was based). "A lot of dancers at S.A.B also attended the High School For Performing Arts, so there's definitely a big nostalgia-factor for me." Sage eventually performed with the New York City Ballet, and also studied at the legendary Actors Studio, before turning her focus entirely toward being a musician.

A reinvention of the original Oscar®-winning hit film, Fame follows a talented group of dancers, singers, actors, and artists over four years at the New York City High School for Performing Arts. Self-taught musician, poet and producer Rachael Sage radiates what MOJO Magazine calls "warm, intelligent...NY indie charm". Z tej okazji 9 sierpnia 2009 w Operze Leśnej odbył się koncert specjalny. Gościnnie wystąpili: Romuald Czystaw, Felicjan Andrzejczak, Izabela Trojanowska, Irena Santor, Urszula i Zdzisław Janiak (gitara).

Miał także przybyć wokalista zespołu The Animals Eric Burdon, lecz nie pojawił się na scenie. Artysta występował już kilka razy z Budką Suflera.

A bit of a work in progress - if I can think of more examples of traditional folk songs making it big when redone in the style of rock, then I'll add them as I think of them.

The House Of The Rising Sun as done by The Animals in 1964
This American folk ballad has been covered numerous times, but the version by the Animals received the most commercial success. This version - which made number one in both the US and the UK - is considered to be the quite revolutionary as the "first folk rock" song. The Animals first heard the song as done by a singer named Johnny Handle and recorded it in one take. Despite rumors to the contrary, the Bob Dylan version was not inspired by the Animals version, as Dylan had recorded this song in 1961. The song had in fact been recorded dozens of times before Dylan and perhaps owes its preservation to Alan Lomax. Lomax, who was a curator for the Archive of American Folk Song for the Library of Congress, traveled across the country for folk songs and recorded Georgia Turner singing the song in 1937. Turner's version is widely regarded as the oldest recording of the song, yet Clarence Ashley and Gwen Foster recorded the song in 1933, though the song undoubtedly existed long before that..

This song was a West Indies folk song, which was possibly first recorded by The Weavers in 1927, but under the name "Wreck of the John B." Eight years later, Alan Lomax recorded it with the name "Histe Up the John B. Sail." Finally, The Kingston Trio covered it, with this interpretation being the one which inspired Al Jardine. Since Brian Wilson was not much of a folk fan, Jardine had to make a few chord modifications in order to make it more appealing to Wilson. Finally, Wilson made some slight lyrical changes and the result was a song that reached #3 in the US.
