In 2002's, producer Jeff Towne and journalist Peter Manzi from New Age Voice Magazine, have created rating of most significant works in ambient style for all time. For selecting of it, were invited following artists - Steve Roach, Robert Rich, founder of record company Hearts of Space - Stephen Hill. As a result were selected 25 albums. There are like an classical albums of Steve Roach and Brian Eno, as well as usually classified as porgressive rock - Tangerine Dream, electronic music - Aphex Twin, The Orb and even jazz - Miles Davis. Thus, ambient definition has been quite extended.
Full list of experts who took a part in creation of this list:
Stephen Hill, founder of Hearts of Space;
John Diliberto, producer and radio dj of Echoes syndicated radio;
Barbara Taylor, founder and editor in chief of New Age Voice Magazine;
Steve Davis, producer of Hearts of Space;

Fev 28 2013, 18h45 por ZhelezobetonTogether with the labels Shadowplay Records and monopoly records we are pleased to present you the second album of Archon Orchestra, produced by the well-known founder of Cyclotimia и Sphere Rex projects. "Cenotaph" continues the line started on the debut CD Pong - the sounds of a church organ harmoniously intertwine with delicate, subtle electronics while piano and strings mysteriously "float" under the arches of a gothic cathedral immersing the listener in light melancholia. Recommended for the lovers of both atmospheric soundtracks (Ludovico Einaudi, Eleni Karaindrou) and academic "minimalism" (Philip Glass, Terry Riley, Arvo Pärt). However it's also absolutely worth checking out for the fans of "neoclassic" and "ethereal".

Terry Riley's album A Rainbow in Curved Air is dated 1967?!!
Actually, this could easily be 2010 for 8-bit reminiscence, this could also be 70s for its psychedelic/progressive kind of sound. 80s work fine as well for heavy use of synthesizers. And that's not all. 50s fit in perfectly, too, for some subtle experimental/space tune.
All in all, this guy rocks! A real must listen!
Jun 3 2011, 14h08 por heavylioneCurved Air are a pioneering british progressive rock group formed in 1970 by musicians who came from quite different artistic backgrounds, classic, folk, and electronic sound, which resulted in a mixture of progressive rock, folk rock, and fusion with classical elements. Along with High Tide, It's A Beautiful Day and East of Eden, Curved Air were one of the first bands after The Velvet Underground and It's A Beautiful Day to feature a violin. Considered (according to AllMusic) "one of the most dramatically accomplished of all the bands lumped into Britain's late-'60s prog explosion", Curved Air released eight studio albums (the first three became the UK Top 20 hits) and had a hit single with "Back Street Luv" (1971) which reached #4 in the UK Singles Chart.
The group evolved out of the band Sisyphus which was formed by Darryl Way (who studied violin at Dartington College and the Royal College of Music) and Francis Monkman, a member of Academy of St. …
