  • Bzangy Groink Playlist 21/10/09

    Out 28 2009, 12h20 por JyotiMishra

The best new track tonight was 'DQMOT' by People Under The Stairs. Every album they release is full of gems and I really had a tough time picking one to play tonight. Amazing hip hop, just pure fun and wicked rapping!

The sharp-eyed Groinker might notice a bit more retro electro than I normally play. This is because I was still buzzing from watching the BBC's 'Synth Britannia.' So, there is no one best old tune tonight - it's every song that made my teenage electropop years fantastic. Thank you, synth kids. :-)

At 10 February 1999 televised annual music awards ceremony, SHOW TV, at which he was to be named Musician of the Year, he spoke out about his 'Kurdish' background and said that he wanted to produce music in his native Kurdish as naturally as he does in Turkish. He announced that he had recorded a song in Kurdish (Karwan, released on the Hoşçakalın Gözüm album in 2001) and intended to produce a video to accompany it. At this event he was attacked by some Turkish singers like Serdar Ortac, Ebru Gundes and many other singers because of his stance on the use of Kurdish. Kaya went to France in June 1999 escaping various charges arising from his political views. He died of a heart attack in Paris in 2000, at the age of 43.

    1. What's your favorite song by 15?
    MONORAL - Sparta

    2. How did you get into 20?
Apoptygma Berzerk. They had one song, In This Together, which used to be the theme for the E.R. ads on cable TV. It's so addictive and beautiful.

    3. Who is your favorite member in 1?
GLAY - Hisashi. I'm going with Hisashi here, but I admire Takuro like no one else. And Teru is just my sun, because understanding Japanese isn't required for he sings with such emotion... And Jiro is pure, lively energy and hope. Hisashi, however, was my very first love in the J-Rock world and remains as one, full of mystery, originality, creativity and sheer talent.

    4. What’s your favorite lyric bit by 29?
Sara Bareilles. I love this bit from fairytale: Once upon a time in a faraway kingdom / Man made up a story said that I should believe him / Go and tell your white knight that he's handsome in hindsight / But I don't want the next best thing.

    5. Have you ever seen 22 live?
U2. YES! I actually have! :D I saw them live in 2006, in their Vertigo Tour. Fan-fucking-tastic!

    6. What's your favorite album from 10?
Miyavi - THIZ IS THE JAPANESE KABUKI ROCK. It used to be Gagaku, but I changed my mind after having seen him live.

    7. Do you own any merchandise from 3?
PIERROT. Yes, I have their DRAMATIC NEO ANNIVERSARY single. My ex-boyfriend bought it for me when he was in Japan.

    8. What is a good memory you have of 7?
Hans Zimmer. A LOT of good memories, especially because he's the composer of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy OSTs. So that means, cinema, Jack Sparrow, friends, fun! Everything!

    9. Is there a member of the same age as you in 2?
BUCK-TICK. Noooo, not even by a looong shot. They're old enough to be my dad, perhaps (which would freak me out, because I'd rather have Atsushi as my secret lover instead of my dad!).

    10. When did you first get into 8?
Dir en grey. Huh, I guess it was... 2000? 2001? I remember listening to Yokan or Cage when I first started listening to Japanese music via an online radio.

    11. Who likes 4 along with you?
Nightmare. I guess /obabamania likes them, but I believe she loves Sendai Kamotsu better. XD

    12. Which song did you first hear from 16?
    Hoobastank - TocarRunning Away.

    13. What song made you fall in love with 5?
Sakurai Atsushi - Sacrifice. But I already loved him anyway for his work with BUCK-TICK.

    14. Which song do you not like by 18?
Gackt - 12Gatsu no Love Song. I hated it when it was released, soooo boring. I don't like songs with the whole "OMG, she left me, now what can I doooo?" vibe.

    15. Why do you like 14's songs?
Kagrra,. I love them because their sound is unique and very different from any other band's. I also loved the way they dressed in their indies time - not to mention the PVs. I also adore fans and Isshi seems to love them to. :3 Plus, it's nice to see a Japanese band favouring their own language when it comes to albums, songs and the like.

    16. Where did you first hear 6?
Bôa. When I became a fan of Serial Experiments Lain. They're much more than just Duvet, though. It's a sad thing people don't realise that...

    17. How long was 19 a singer before you liked them?
the GazettE. About... 2, 3 years maximum?

    18. Does 13 have a song that gives you a bad memory?
LUNA SEA. No, I don't remember anything bad related to LS. :3

    19. When did you get into 17?
Red Hot Chili Peppers. 2002, I think, when they released their Californication album. Which is beyond awesome, btw. I so regret having sold my ticket to their concert when they were here...

    20. How long have you been into 9?
LM.C. 1 year, perhaps. It took me long enough to like them after PIERROT broke up. And it took their concert here for me to start listening to them.

    21. If 11 had a concert 300 miles away, would you drive there to see them?
Plastic Tree. Sure! I still have hope to see them live here, but I'd drive for sure!

    22. How many CDs do you own of 12?
Rammstein. One! I'm a proud owner of their Reise, Reise album, which is awesoooome! I love it!

    23. Does 21 have a song that makes you cry?
    R.E.M. - Everybody Hurts.

    24. Does 27 have a song that makes you happy?
Klaus Badelt - Skull and Crossbones. But He's A Pirate is awesome, too, and both have the lovely movie theme (which obviously makes me happy, since it's Pirates of the Caribbean we're talking!). He's the main composer of the 1st movie from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, but he had some help from Hans Zimmer. Only his name is credit in the CDs for the 1st movie, though.

    25. Does 23 have a song that makes you smile?
Yoshihisa Hirano and Hideki Taniuchi. No, there's not a song that makes me smile as in a cheerful smile, but their L's Theme makes me grin when I remember how clever, brilliant and wonderful is the theme they've composed to such a fabulous character.

    26. What's the last song you've listened to from 28?
    Merry - kubitsuri rondo.

    27. Is there a song by 32 that you've listened to more than 30 times?
D'espairsRay. No, there's not. MIRROR is the closest one, with 18 times.

Lacuna Coil. A lot of songs! TocarComalies, TocarSwamped and TocarDaylight Dancer are good examples.

    29. Is there a song you are sick of hearing by 24?
Michael Jackson. No! There's not. :D

    30. What song got you into 40?
Janne Da Arc - TocarLunatic Gate.

    31. What is your favorite single by 25?
    Tsuchiya Anna - rose.

    32. If 49 hated you, what would you do?
Daigo Stardust. Daigo? Hating ANYONE? That's so not happening, dear! I'm his Queen!

    33. What would you say if 42 or one of the members from 42 asked you out?
abingdon boys school - I'd say YES. :D Plus, Takanori shares his b-day with me and he's fun!

    34. Would you care if 41 had a boyfriend/girlfriend?
    X JAPAN. No. For all I know, they could be all married and with kids. Except, well, for hide. ;_;

    35. Who has the best voice in 46?
YUKI KAJIURA. No one? She's a composer, not a singer.

    36. Do you think 26 is/are good looking?
Tokio Hotel. They are cute if you're a 13 year old, methinks. Bill looks like a monkey! 8D But yeah, Bill and Tom are kinda cute, I suppose.

    37. How many times have you listened to your favorite song by 36?
Franz Ferdinand - TocarThe Dark of the Matinee. 9 times!

    40. Which member from 31 do you want to see go solo? If 31 is only one artist, what would you do if they joined a group?
Alizée. I'd like to see her in a band, yes. It could be fun!

    41. What does your favorite song from 48 remind you of?
Tarkan - TocarSimarik. Reminds me of my trip to Rio de Janeiro, in 2006! <3 My friend showed me him for the first time, then.

    Madonna. No, I didn't! o_o

English lyrics – it’s well for me. But I couldn’t say anything about this song, no any emotions.

    13. Greece Sakis Rouvas – This Is Our Night

I know Sakis since ESC 2004. He has very good voice. I like his voice. He reminds me Dima Bilan and Tarkan. I like his number. I was only confused by ‘coffin’ with flag of Greece inside.

I didn’t understand this song at all because it wasn’t English.

And my favorite song from ESC 2009 is former.
My fav song from ESC 2009 is Copycat – Copycat from Belgium.
Belgium: my deepest congratulations!!! Belgium amazed me.

And there are lyrics of Copycat’s song (from the Net). Enjoy.

    Copycat (Patrick Ouchène) – Copycat

    Way down in Memphis, Tennessee
There’s a guy looking just like me
Wearing the same blue suede shoes
    Singing the same old blues

Way down in the US of A
There’s a guy doing things my way
    Combing the same greasy hair
    Hugging the same teddy bear

He’s a copycat, trying to steal my soul
But he’s too fat to rock ‘n’ roll
He’s a copycat, trying to steal my soul
But he’s too fat to rock ‘n’ roll

Way down in the deep-deep South
    There’s a guy with a girly mouth
    Eating the same banana sandwich
Dressed in the same kind of kitsch

Way down by the Mississippi river
There’s a guy with a voice that quivers
    Driving the same Cadillac car
    Chasing the same lucky star

He’s a copycat, trying to steal my soul
But he’s too fat to rock ‘n’ roll
He’s a copycat, trying to steal my soul
But he’s too fat to rock ‘n’ roll

    Way down in America
There’s a guy, rich and arrogant
    Dating my fair Priscilla
He makes me want to hire a killer

Way down in the land of the brave
There’s a guy lying in his grave
    ‘Cause nobody duplicating my jive
Will never get away with that alive

He was a copycat, trying to steal my soul
Now he’s too dead to rock ‘n’ roll
He was a copycat, trying to steal my soul
Now he’s too dead to rock ‘n’ roll

(Copycat) To rock ‘n’ roll, rock ‘n’ roll, rock ‘n’ roll…
(He’s too dead) To rock ‘n’ roll, rock ‘n’ roll, rock ‘n’ roll…
    (Copy-copycat, copycat)
    (Copy-copycat, copycat)
    (Copy-copycat, copycat)
(Copy-copycat, copycat) He was a copycat

  • Jia Ren Qu (Playlist - Feb '09)

    Mar 19 2009, 9h48 por websheldon

Hardly any of these have links that can be played on last.fm so sorry if anyone was wanting to listen!

    1. Shigeru Umebayashi - TocarBeauty Song (Jia Ren Qu)
Cue the mystical intro song.... ohooohoooohoooohoooohooohoooo *sandeep style bat*

    2. Tinku - Takirikusunchis
Awww this song is so cute! It makes me want to be a traditional peruvian dancing and playing - love the energy in this song!

    3. Bibi Ashupreet Kaur - Prabh Ji Toon Mero Sukhdaata
This is a religious sikh hymn - three tiny girls that tour around temples singing! It's about 9 minutes long... It was just got a movely relaxing feel to it...

    4. The Idan Raichel Project - TocarShe'eriot Shel Ha'Chaim (Scraps Of Life)
An Iranian guy with dreds! Gorgeous string part in this... hmmm i really wanted to say 'string riff' then but i'm sure that aint right!! ;-)

    5. Shreya Goshai - Jadoo Hai Nasha Hai
There seem to be loads of versions of this song....and erm.... I'm not sure this is the best one....doh!

    6. Shubha Mudgai - Mathura Nagarpati
Ooooooooooo this songs sends shivers down my spine.... so lush and dark....

    7. Himesh Reshammiya - Dhoom Tere Ishq Ki
    Bollywood beardy type...

    8. Myriam Fares - Haklak Rahtak
    A lebanese taurian...

    9. Vangelis Korakakis - Kai Tora Matia Mou
Got this on a greek compilation from Zavvi (RIP) (well...RIP to the branch in Athlone anyway....now we have NO music shops.....!! Ok we have one ONE music shop which sells a very good mixture to say how tiny it is but Amazon is clearly the only option in the Irish midlands....!)

    10. Dana Halabi - Ta' Moot
This songs is FUNNY. In a good way. esp when accompanied by the video.

    11. Melheim Zein - Baddi Hebbek
Aww there's only two plays by this artist on Last.fm and I *know* I have listened to this song a LOT more than that!

    12. Tarkan - TocarArada Bir
Good old Tarkan and his hot turkishness...

    13. Natacha Atlas - TocarKidda
    Arabic kinda stylee...

    14. Giaponezikoi Kipoi - Pes Mou ti Theleis
Ok this probably isn't a tango but thats what it makes me think of...

    15. Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros - Shaktar Donetsk
I never realised Joe Strummer was with The Clash until I got into this song... Some of my musical knowledge is diabolical I know but I have a lot of catching up to do - I only listened to ABBA for about 10 years of my childhood! well...and 50's/60's songs...

    16. Udit Narayan - Achi Lagti Ho
Narayan was a Prodigy song, no?!

    17. Harbhajan Maan - Aa Ve Mahi
I like driving to this - nice and chilled!

    18. Huayno - Amor Ajeno
From the same compilation as track to - songs from Peru! Similar kind of upbeat feel...hmmmm I like music of Peru! :-D
