Summoning é uma banda de black/metal épico austriaca. O seu estilo foi descrito como “Black Metal / Tolkien Folk”, já que as letras da maior parte dos seus albúns fazem referência ao grandioso mundo mitológico de J.R.R. Tolkien, com a notável exepção de “Stronghold”.

Os Summoning foram formados em 1991 por Silenius (Michael Gregor), Protector (Richard Lederer) e Trifixion (Alexander Trondl)

@Rugiewit1: it featured some simple keyboard parts and some production experiments, but it was rather a background to melodic bm music. MM was a big change

Maybe nezumi means that on MM they used more synth than on Lugburz, but anyway, agree with Auron55, though it will take some time, until they are ready with the new album.

@Rugiewit1: well, their earlier tracks had more typical, satanic/anti-christian bm lyrics. Lugburz was a progression because it changed the style to more melodic and lyrics to fantasy, but the biggest change came with Minas Morgul with introduction of synthesizers

Yeah, I remember that. I agree with you both, "Moondance" (along with "Flight of the Nazgul") is the best track of "Lugburz". Beautiful atmosphere.

It seems that they have been inspired (also influenced) by many things, such as vikings, satanism/occultism etc before they've found Tolkien (and Moorcock).

I understand your point, it's true that Lugburz has definitly the Tolkien's feeling on it, it can submerges me in the Middle-Earth as easily as the other releases!

Yeah, I understand you well, Wintermaze. Partly agree with you too, but my there is still inner love for Tolkien and Middle-Earth that has classified "Lugburz" as a beginning of a 'real' Summoning, for finally they began to use themes based on this great writer's works and fictional worlds. I also like those additional, storytelling 'soft' growls on 'Lugburz', because they completely remind me of goblins and "The Hobbit". :D
