vv i am aware that north korean music is heavily influenced by soviet music. i just think soviet and chinese songs are better. cool misogyny, though.

listening to Radio Pyongyang now and it sounds exactly as a typical official Soviet music. typical music of totalitarism i guess: the worse the situation in the country is - the more cheerful must be the tunes on the radio <----- Soviet music was better, though. Most of the North Korean stuff either sounds like annoying 70s pop or mediocre Soviet/Chinese propaganda knockoffs.

Radio Pyongyang is indescribable. It's so optimistic and valiant yet you know it's sung by a people who are oppressed on a daily basis and live awful lives with no knowledge of the outside world whatsoever. That being said, it is beautiful.

Can't understand why VAs don't bring ALL the attention. This should be the age of comps and it's not. Do people cling that much to precise categorization? Then the mighty net has failed! Or maybe people just don't like globalisation, the right and holy one: the one flowing from outside. From other space and other times.

i'd love to buy 'radio pyongyang', but it's not in stock at their website. does anyone know if they'll ever sell it in CD/LP format again, or is it just a download from now on?
