Sororicide was founded early 1990 by Gisli (bass/vocals) and Gaui (guitar). To begin with they played heavy thrash metal but soon evolved into death metal. The first gig was in June the same year, but it wasn’t until the band won a national band contest in 1991, under the name Infusoria, that they started to get noticed. Soon after they changed the name back to Sororicide and autumn 1991 saw the band enter the studio.

The Entity was released in December the same year, by an Icelandic record label called Platonic Records. The line-up was, along with Gisli and Gaui, Karl on drums, Fróði on guitar and Bogi vocals. The album got a fine reception and sold reasonably well. Early 1992 Bogi left the band, and Gisli took over the vocal duties again. In march 1992 the band entered the studio again to record a few songs for an Icelandic metal compilation album. Later that year, Apocalypse was released, which contained three songs by Sororicide. These recordings got very positive reviews, both in Iceland and abroad. Sororicide entered the studio yet again in the summer 1993 to record for a 7” that was to be released by Rising Realm Records in Finland. This incarnation of the band included Arnar on guitar and Unnar on drums, as well as the founders, Gisli and Gaui. These recordings weren’t released until spring 1994, as a split CD with UK’s Chorus of Ruin, with Sororicide’s part called Godlike. Unfortunately, the band had played their last of over sixty gigs a couple of months before Godlike was released.

because they're from iceland, idiot. if they were from scandinavia or mainland europe it would be a different story. it was all very regional back then, there was no netwebs myspace lastfm to spread your music. there was tape trading and playing shows and drinking with friends.

Finding old gems like The Entity just makes my fucking day. Why these guys didn't get more recognition is beyond me, they definitely had the potential to be one of the best OSDM bands. Hell, even still, The Entity is some of the best OSDM I've heard in a long time. Dark, doomy, skull crushing, riiiiifffsss *drools* and it has an unbelievably sinister atmosphere (something more than half of modern death metal bands lack.)

Went to Cambridge to see the screening of 'Return to Nuke 'Em High' at a legit theatre. There was a character wearing a Sororicide shirt in the movie. I mentally gave that good man a brofist.

How is he trolling if he likes the band, but doesn't find a $2000 price tag warranted? I don't give a fuck how much I like a band, that's an outrageous price. Even if I had that kind of disposable income to regularly spend on old, rare lps... it's not like the band is seeing those proceeds anyway. --- Stop acting like you're a 12 year old girl and someone just insulted Justin Bieber, TheArtistBox.

Demo I from 1993 is probably their best material. But The Entity is cool too.

Like my last profile has Asphyx, Death and Deathstars as my top artists. I don't think i have listened to Death since 2007 or asphyx for that matter. your tastes change therefore the number of times listening to certian bands change.

Yeah, plus some of those artists are listened by my brother on my ipod (The Lonely Island, Deathstars etc), but i really like MM and if you don't you either don't know them or don't know good music. It's like saying you dislike The Rolling Stones, just becuase they are not 'death metal' doesn't mean they are not worth your while. However, death metal is probably my biggest genre (close to thrash) I listen to this profile doesn't even come close to all the artists i know from this genre. If kept my last profile maybe there would be more of a representation there to go by.

Apparently he is qualified in Death Metal, since that makes up 99% of his artists, and the other 1% is basically just.... other metal sub genres. Time to expand your horizons dude. Oh, and Monster Magnet were great, "Spine of God" and "Superjudge" both kick ass.

Plus you're profile offers no purpose. So starting an argument over ones profile is highly a strange thing to do. Assuming you only listen to a handful of artists.

"but their album definitely isn't worth even half of what it sells for on Egay. " that proves to me you're saying their good but not good. Wouldn't you think. Plus re:my profile. Look at my name, do you really think i care what artists i am listening too? I like every kind of music. I am more metal than you though...
