What is truly remarkable about this album is the way Thurston and Lee make their guitars sound in this album. Nobody else but Sonic Youth could have written an album like Bad Moon Rising. I mean sure it sounds spooky and weird the first time you listen to it but if you listen to the guitar work this album is amazing. Bad Moon Rising proves Sonic Youth is one of the greatist experimental bands of our time and think of it isn't weird that an album like this came out in 1985 when Michael Jackson and Madonna were popular.

VVV I am more and more inclined to agree every time I listen to it. Such an unassuming record, but it's god damn perfect from the first track to the very last (excluding the songs added on the re-release, of course). I heard they played Death Valley '69 on a show this tour, and immediately regretted not traveling to see them on this tour. So good.

My introduction to Sonic Youth. A friend recorded this for me back in '87 when I was mostly listening to hardcore. Quite a shock and it took a few listens to sink in, but this band changed my life, really. 22 years later I'm finally going to take the opportunity to see them perform live this July in Spokane.
