I had a friend in high school (actually, she was one year ahead of me) who went off to UVA and discovered Dave and Shannon Worrell at roughly the same time. Both were burning through Charlottesville with regularity, and she would send tapes of shows and albums to get me hooked up with Virginia's finest.
I still listen to both regularly, and am really happy to hear that Shannon has been playing some shows lately.
My friend Gina hooked me up with Shannon when Ms. Worrell and Dave Matthews were frequenting the local pubs and venues around UVA in Charlottesville, VA. Both bands stuck with me. Dave sings background on Eleanor and as such, I think that quite a few people were exposed to Shannon. More people should dig deeper; she's done making music, but this is a really great and timeless album.
If first heard Shannon's music while in college and became a fan of her album, Three Wishes in an instant. Having been a fan of CB of DMB, I was also happy to learn that Dave was singing backup. Certainly a great album to listen to with that special someone or whilst cooking pancakes on a Sundae morning.
